The long lost album contains Bryant\u2019s critically received single, \u201cK.O.B.E,\u201d featuring Tyra Banks \u2014 which, according to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.complex.com\/sports\/5-things-to-know-kobe-bryants-long-lost-rap-album\/kobe-album-5\">Complex<\/a>, is the reason the album was never released. Fans may recall when Bryant <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=MpzJgLzzX38\">performed \u201cK.O.B.E.\u201d live<\/a> at the 2000 NBA All-Star <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Bryant\u2019s album is a gritty, hip-hop collection that included bars about guns and motivational messages, reminiscent of his Mamba Mentality, Complex shared after listening to the album. On the tracks, \u201cThink Big\u201d and \u201cReality Check,\u201d Bryant preaches to work hard to get what want you instead of succumbing to shortcuts in life. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Kobe Bryant Ft. For example, on the track titled, \u201cSquint Your Eyez,\u201d he raps:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst things first \/ You think I don\u2019t rhyme and that I\u2019m reciting my verse? \/ Your words are deader than a hearse.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The album also includes a number of rap samples by music icons.\u00a0The song \u201cK.O.B.E\u201d samples Rodney O and Joe Cooley\u2019s \u201cEverlasting Bass.\u201d Bryant also samples Run DMC\u2019s \u201cMy Adidas,\u201d as a love letter to the shoe brand \u2014 long before he joined Nike. Lauryn Hill\u2019s vocals from the classic \u201cDoo Wop\u201d is featured in the chorus of \u201cCan I Live,\u201d which explains the pitfalls of fame, according to the outlet. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"\/>For those asking why Bryant would record a rap album \u2014 it apparently started after his \u00a0Laker teammate,\u00a0Shaquille O\u2019Neal found success off the court with his Diesel\/Superman music character. In the \u201990s, O\u2019Neal launched his own rap career with the help of Steve Stoute, president of Sony\u2019s Urban Music at the time \u2014 and after the big man went platinum, Stoute, according to Complex, wanted to take Bryant down the same path. <\/p>\n<p>So, in 1999, Stoute signed Bryant, along with his rap group,\u00a0CHEIZAW, to a record deal. With that, came relocating the group from Los Angeles to New Jersey to give them a sense of the New York City rap game. That\u2019s not what you need to be doing,\u2019\u201d the\u00a0actor told <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/ll-cool-j-reminisces-about-kobe-bryants-almost-rap-career-exclusive-142093\">\u201cEntertainment Tonight<\/a>.\u201d \u201cHe had a gangsta rap album. He played me that album, we\u2019re sitting in a parking lot. I was confused.\u00a0I was sittin\u2019 there, like, \u2018What are we doing?
