\n It\u2019s love at first sight \u2026 of a negative COVID-19 test.<\/p>\n

As lockdown restrictions loosen across the US \u2014 and outdoor bars, restaurants and cafes come back to life \u2014 horny singles are daringly diving back into the dating scene.<\/p>\n

But instead of the lax, free-love attitude of 2019, wary daters are setting rigorous rules, guidelines and boundaries before letting their masks \u2014 and their guards \u2014 down.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s almost like having a conversation about STDs, but now it\u2019s coronavirus,\u201d says Samantha Fulgium, a 19-year-old Texas Tech University student who went on her first date since COVID-19 hit last Monday.<\/p>\n

So far, she\u2019s turned down two guys on Tinder who didn\u2019t pass her virus bar.<\/p>\n

\u201cI pretty much said, \u2018If you want to take me out to eat, you need a mask,\u2019 and one dude was like, \u2018Well, I don\u2019t own one,\u2019 and the other dude was like, \u2018I don\u2019t think it\u2019s gonna keep me from getting it, so I\u2019m not gonna wear it,\u2019 \u201d she says. \u201cIt was a huge turnoff \u2026 like, if you\u2019re not gonna be safe about wearing a mask when we meet for the first time, I bet you\u2019re the same kind of guy who won\u2019t be safe and wear a condom the first time, either.\u201d<\/p>\n

Urszula Makowska, of Brooklyn, was even more strict about her first app<\/a>ointment with romance.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old blogger had already gone on two virtual dates with Vincent, 38, in April and May before deciding it was worth it to risk meeting in person.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had an instant connection when we met online and just clicked,\u201d says Makowska, who met about 10 men virtually while being set up on blind \u201cdates\u201d by friends and broadcasting them on Instagram Live for fun. Vincent was the only one who made the cut.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll along we were texting, FaceTiming\u2026and were really excited to see each other in person,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

After Vincent returned from self-isolating in Oregon, the duo met for coffee in Soho on June 20. But not before hashing out some fine print typically off limits before a first date: \u201cWe discussed that we weren\u2019t being physical with other people before meeting,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

Their union was equally out of the norm.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was strange to meet with a mask on, because the mask hid half of our faces,\u201d she recalls. \u201cBut my first thought was still, \u2018Oh my God, he looks good\u2019 [and] I could tell that his eyes had lit up.\u201d<\/p>\n

After sharing a hug (which they agreed was OK), the pair headed to Washington Square Park where they walked around and talked.<\/p>\n

\u201cNormally, I would have met at a bar or for dinner, and it would have been a little bit more intimate, but as of right now, I wanted a little bit of space,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

The two had fun regardless, and plan to go on another date. As for any other potential Romeos? Makowska will stick to her regular roster of questions: \u201cI usually ask people where they\u2019ve travel<\/a>ed, if they\u2019re currently traveling, if they\u2019ve been going out\u2026I think they\u2019re things that need to be brought up,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

Eligible bachelor Abe Friedman, on the other hand, kept swiping on OkCupid during quarantine while holed up in Seattle, after having taken off from Brooklyn. His criteria for meeting up? \u201cI wanted to be reasonably sure they weren\u2019t having orgies,\u201d he says, adding that \u201ctaking proper precautions\u201d like wearing a mask in public and not attending parties was preferred. \u201cAnd no COVID conspiracy theorists.\u201d<\/p>\n

Friedman, 29, admits that he \u201cwasn\u2019t paranoid\u201d about getting back out there because \u201cI was horny and lonely.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the dates, however, \u201cthere was an understanding that there would be zero touch,\u201d he says, adding that he usually met girls at parks.<\/p>\n

He did break the rules for one woman \u2014 and ended up dating her for a month, which included lots of touching not necessarily recommended by the health department.\u00a0 They\u2019ve since broken up, and Friedman is now putting his love life on ice to eliminate any more risk of contracting the virus.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe risk outweighs the reward,\u201d he says. \u201cBut if a cutie with a booty messaged me \u2014 I would be hard pressed to say \u2018no.\u2019\u2009\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
