J-rock band ALI<\/strong> announced<\/span><\/a> today that the band will suspend its activities until further notice<\/strong> due to the crimes allegedly committed by their now-former drummer\u00a0Kahadio<\/strong>, as well as announcing that the drummer has withdrawn from the group and his contract with Sony Music has been canceled.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

In April, the\u00a0drummer for ALI<\/strong> was arrested twice on the suspicion of committing\u00a0communications fraud and then caught on camera taking the money from the scam out of an ATM\u00a0in Tokyo.\u00a0Kahadio<\/strong> confessed to taking the money out of the ATM to the\u00a0Tokyo Metropolitan Police.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The first arrest<\/span><\/a> came on\u00a0April 8, which\u00a0caused\u00a0ALI’s<\/strong>\u00a0record label\u00a0Sony Music to request the production committee of\u00a0The World Ends with You the Animation\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>to\u00a0<\/span>remove<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>ALI’s single\u00a0“Teenage City Riot” as the opening theme<\/a> song to the series<\/a>, of which\u00a0<\/span>they obliged<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0ALI<\/strong>\u00a0had previously performed the opening theme to\u00a0BEASTARS<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0and the first ending to\u00a0JUJUTSU KAISEN<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The second arres<\/span><\/a>t was\u00a0on April 24, where\u00a0Kahadio is\u00a0suspected of scamming\u00a0a 70-year-old\u00a0woman from Osaka on March 3 by telling her that she’ll be reimbursed for her medical expenses if she pays around 2.31 million yen (US$21,400)<\/strong> to the\u00a0bank account which Kahadio took money out of.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the posts<\/span><\/a> on ALI’s<\/strong> website<\/span><\/a>, the band apologized to the fans, the victims of the crimes, and vowed to give any support needed in the matter of the former band member.<\/p>\n
