\nNew York, NY \u2013 <\/span> Travis Scott admitted during an interview earlier this month in Adweek<\/em> interview he doesn\u2019t like branding and marketing. But when it comes to luxury cars and getting esteemed awards, that\u2019s a different story.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0\u201cAntidote\u201d songwriter\u00a0will be honored at the 72nd\u00a0annual Parsons Benefit hosted by The New School on June 15 at The Rooftop at Pier 17 in the Seaport District in New York City, according to a press release.<\/p>\n

The Parson Benefit award honors visionary figures in fashion, technology<\/a> and the arts that embody the institution\u2019s commitment to creativity, innovation, sustainability and inclusivity. The honorees are recognized\u00a0for their numerous contributions to design, retail, entrepreneurship, the arts, sustainability, social<\/a> justice and their dedication to creating opportunities for future generations of artists and designers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very excited to be receiving this honor from The New School and grateful to be a part of this group of innovators,\u201d Scott said. \u201cI\u2019ve always tried to fuse fashion, technology and the arts into everything I do. These are all linked and a natural extension of my work. It has never been about specific brands or labels for me. It\u2019s about the vision. It\u2019s about making your own things, seeing what\u2019s out there, and never compromising.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scott will be the only musician among this year\u2019s seven recipients. That include\u00a0Chairman and CEO of Macy\u2019s Jeff Gennette, former Senior Vice President of App<\/a>le Retail and CEO of Burberry Angela Ahrendts DBE, designers Gabriela Hearst and Kerby Jean-Raymond and artist Carrie Mae Weems.<\/p>\n

The ceremony will be held both in-person and livestreamed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to be honoring this diverse and creative group of leaders who are all visionaries in their respective industries, and for their deep commitment to the values that guide Parsons in everything we do,\u201d Executive Dean of The New School\u2019s Parsons School of Design\u00a0Rachel Schreiber said. \u201cParsons was founded upon the idea that design can change the world, and these exceptional honorees are reimagining the creative and commercial landscape in a way that will positively impact a range of disciplines for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n

Previous Hip Hop and R&B artists who received this honor are\u00a0Pharrell Williams,\u00a0Rihanna\u00a0and\u00a0Solange.<\/p>\n

In April, Scott revealed that one of his most heralded brainchilds Astroworld Festival is returning to his hometown Houston, Texas before the end of 2021.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
