Marv Albert will retire at the conclusion of the NBA playoffs, The Post has learned.<\/p>\n

Albert, who will turn 80 next month, has been calling professional game<\/a>s for nearly 60 years and is considered by most the greatest NBA play-by-player of all-time.<\/p>\n

A Brooklyn native and Basketball Hall of Famer revered for his signature \u201cYes!\u201d call, Albert worked his first Knicks game as a 21-year-old in 1963, filling in for another New York sportscasting giant, Marty Glickman, on WCBS Radio.<\/p>\n

Sources said TNT, where Albert has been the lead play-by-player for more than two decades, recently began contacting NBA personnel to pay tribute to Albert during the playoffs.<\/p>\n

TNT and Albert are expected to formally announce his retirement plans soon.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, The Post reported that Albert\u2019s partner, Chris Webber, and TNT had agreed that Webber would not call the playoffs after it became app<\/a>arent the former star forward would not be offered a contract for next year.<\/p>\n

Albert\u2019s retirement and Webber\u2019s departure are unrelated.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s still being determined who will be Albert\u2019s partner for the playoffs, as he will call his last game in the Eastern Conference Finals.<\/p><\/div>\n
