Thanks to a couple of journalists, he eventually got it. And while the stakes may not be as high, the team at Cointelegraph Markets Pro is pretty curious about some interesting crypto data this week.<\/p>\n<p>The VORTECS\u2122 Score includes sentiment analysis, tweet and trading volume, and price action as components of the algorithm \u2014 which are then weighted according to a proprietary formula based on how similar these are to historical conditions.<\/p>\n<p>If there is a similarity in these factors, the score will be higher when historical precedents have most consistently led to higher prices.<\/p>\n<p>But while the score is algorithmically-generated, the raw data can sometimes tell a story too.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"AAVE_Idea\"><\/span>AAVE Idea<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>First off, here\u2019s a chart of tweet volume for AAVE this week, charted against the price of the DeFi asset.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2021-05\/fb1ce543-1d34-4aef-98c8-24d050265cc6.png\"><\/figure>\n<p>Tweets are obviously public information, but what are the chances that most retail participants in the crypto markets are able to absorb this outlier and analyze its meaning? The VORTECS\u2122 Score can, however \u2014 it\u2019s untouched by human hands, and since one of the components is based on the entire <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> universe (most algos are only fed a subsection of the full firehose) it is essentially omnipotent when it comes to tweet data.<\/p>\n<p>And sure enough, the VORTECS\u2122 Score began to rise very shortly after this large spike in tweet volume, as seen in the chart below.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2021-05\/afa59d6c-9043-49e6-88f1-60e5a85dad7f.png\"><\/figure>\n<p>So what\u2019s going on here? An AAVE Army arising to pump the token? Some kind of amazing <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> that only affected the price 24 hours later?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Well here\u2019s the kicker for all those conspiracy theorists out there: this is pure coincidence. Plain and simple.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And in fact it all comes back to Elon Musk\u2026 in a roundabout way. Because everything in crypto does these days. <\/p>\n<p>On Saturday Night Live this week, which was hosted by the Doge fanboy, he <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.refinery29.com\/en-us\/2021\/05\/10465889\/snl-gen-z-elon-musk-aave-controversy\">participated in a sketch<\/a> featuring the acronym \u2018AAVE\u2019, which <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ears to have resulted in a large volume of tweets concerning \u201cAfrican-American Vernacular English\u201d over the next couple of days.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, even the Urban Dictionary tweeted about the acronym, though the tweet is (as might be expected from such an august website) NSFW. The show\u2019s co-head writer was accused of cultural appropriation as a result of using certain Black vernacular terms in the show, and as we all know, outrage drives social media. <\/p>\n<p>So\u2026 here\u2019s a fantastic learning moment for sentiment analysis in the crypto market: Proof that causation and correlation are not the same thing.<\/p>\n<p>As it happens, AAVE (the crypto asset) did indeed soar following the uptick in Twitter volume for the term AAVE (an acronym). And although the VORTECS\u2122 Score picks apart tweets using artificial intelligence to remove those that don\u2019t fit the context that the algorithm is seeking\u2026 perhaps this time it was fooled. But don\u2019t worry \u2014 Markets Pro will be filtering for this term in future.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Damn you, Elon Musk!<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Alpha_before_Alpha\"><\/span>Alpha before Alpha?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Alpha Finance has no Musk connection (as far as we know) so we\u2019re just going to treat this as a curious outlier.<\/p>\n<p>The red arrow in the chart below shows an unusual pattern of reported trading for 24 hours which was followed by the price of ALPHA moving up by almost 50%. <\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2021-05\/a74ddafe-5cf6-423a-9c52-324dbdfbb193.png\"><\/figure>\n<p>It turns out Alpha Finance had some news of its own this week as the team announced on May 10 that they\u2019d be launching an oracle aggregator.<\/p>\n<p>Following this unusual pattern and the release of the news, the VORTECS\u2122 Score began to rise too.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2021-05\/133432a1-0a42-4918-9439-7a59d2badd49.png\"><\/figure>\n<p>As is often the case when price rises, the trading volume soared in conjunction with price action.
