A high school student in wealthy Fairfield County, Connecticut, is facing charges for allegedly calling a classmate a racial slur on social media<\/a>, according to reports.<\/p>\n

The student took a photo of Jamar Medor, a 10th grader at Fairfield Warde High School, and posted it to Snapchat writing, \u201cWhy is there a n\u2026. in my homeroom? Why is he not in chains?\u201d according to an Eyewitness News report.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI have no words. Like I\u2019m speechless. I\u2019m kind of mad and upset and kind of sad, too,\u201d Jamar, who lives in the town of Fairfield, told the station about the May 7 incident.<\/p>\n

Jamar\u2019s mother, Judith Medor, said her younger son received a racist video call from students at a different school, Fairfield Ludlowe High School, the weekend after the Snapchat post happ<\/a>ened.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know what to say, I\u2019m speechless,\u201d Judith Medor told the local Patch.<\/a> \u201cI have no idea what they\u2019re being taught at home.\u201d<\/p>\n

The teen who allegedly posted to Snapchat and who has not been identified, was charged with second-degree breach of peace and ridicule on account of creed, religion, color, denomination, nationality or race, Patch reported.<\/a><\/p>\n

The boy was suspended from school for 10 days, the news<\/a> site said.<\/p>\n

An online petition,<\/a> which had received nearly 30,000 signatures as of Saturday afternoon, is demanding that the school expel the \u201cracist bully.\u201d\n <\/div>\n
