“#Sen. Marco Rubio calls on US to take UFO reports ‘seriously’<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Sen. Marco Rubio said the US should take the \u201cthreat\u201d of UFOs \u201cseriously\u201d in an interview aired Sunday.<\/p>\n

The Florida Republican\u2019s comments on CBS\u2019 \u201c60 Minutes\u201d<\/a> came ahead of a government report on UFO sightings that is set to be released before the end of June.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnything that enters an airspace that\u2019s not supposed to be there is a threat,\u201d he told the program.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want us to take it seriously and have a process to take it seriously,\u201d Rubio said. \u201cI want us to have a process to analyze the data every time it comes in. That there be a place where this is cataloged and constantly analyzed, until we get some answers.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe it has a very simple answer. Maybe it doesn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

As acting Senate Intelligence Committee chair in December, Rubio has asked for an unclassified copy of the report to be presented to Congress.<\/p>\n

But Rubio told host Bill Whitaker that there is a \u201cstigma\u201d among some on Capitol Hill when it comes to UFOs, also known as unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP).<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, some of my colleagues are very interested in this topic and some kinda, you know, giggle when you bring it up,\u201d he said. \u201cBut I don\u2019t think we can allow the stigma to keep us from having an answer to a very fundamental question.\u202f\u201d<\/p>\n

Former Navy Lt. Ryan Graves\u00a0told \u201c60 Minutes\u201d that he and other members of his squadron spotted UAPs hovering over restricted airspace southeast of Virginia Beach \u201cevery day for a couple of years\u201d beginning in 2014.<\/p>\n

Graves said that the unidentified vessels \u2014 like ones seen in a Pentagon-confirmed\u00a0US Navy video\u00a0near San Diego \u2014 are a security threat.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am worried, frankly. \u2026 if these were tactical jets from another country that were hanging out up there, it would be a massive issue,\u201d Graves said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut because it looks slightly different, we\u2019re not willing to actually look at the problem in the face. We\u2019re happ<\/a>y to just ignore the fact that these are out there, watching us every day.\u201d<\/p>\n

An \u00a0ex-Pentagon official who says he ran the agency\u2019s Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program told the network that UAPs have technology<\/a> vastly exceeding any human invention.<\/p>\n

The controversial whistleblower, Luis \u201cLue\u201d Elizondo, said that sometimes there were \u201csimple explanations\u201d for the sightings \u2014 and others that were \u201cproblematic.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cUltimately when you have exhausted all those what ifs and you\u2019re still left with the fact that this is in our airspace and it\u2019s real, that\u2019s when it becomes compelling, and that\u2019s when it becomes problematic,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In an interview with The Post last month, Elizondo said he believes the feds covered up the existence of UAPs, which he described as a serious national security risk.<\/p>\n

He welcomed the release of the government\u2019s report on the phenomena. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe level of interest is reaching a critical mass,\u201d Elizondo told The Post. \u201cI think [government officials realize that] it would be like putting the cat back in the bag or like putting toothpaste back in the tube. Now that the government has acknowledged the reality of Unexplained Aerial Phenomenon [or UAP, which is synonymous with UFO] \u2026 it\u2019s going to be real hard to backtrack.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
