Actress Sharon Stone is far from pleased about the director\u2019s-cut version of the 1992 erotic thriller \u201cBasic Instinct,\u201d in which she starred, but she\u2019s entirely unable to stop its release.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve decided to release the director\u2019s XXX cut for the 30th anniversary,\u201d the 63-year-old said recently on the Australian show \u201cA Current Affair,\u201d according to the Daily Mail<\/a>. When host Tracy Grimshaw asked directly if Stone, who has for years said she was exploited during the film\u2019s production, could possibly prevent the new version from coming out, Stone said no. But if the film had been made today<\/a>, she noted, she might be able to.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are new [Screen Actors Guild] rules about that that have been made and created, but they were made after I, as a young lady, made this film, and so they don\u2019t app<\/a>ly to me,\u201d said Stone, who was 34 when the flick, her breakout hit, was released.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Despite her beef with the movie \u2014 especially the infamous scene<\/a> in which Stone uncrosses her legs during a police questioning \u2014 Stone categorically does not believe in regrets, and makes no exception here.<\/p>\n

\u201cRegrets are like farts: You can\u2019t get them back. Once they\u2019re out, they\u2019re stinky and gone,\u201d the actress, who recently published a memoir<\/a>, said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBasic Instinct\u201d director Paul Verhoeven has maintained that \u201cSharon is lying\u201d about being misled as to how revealing the crotch-shot scene would be. \u201cAny actress knows what she\u2019s going to see if you ask her to take off her underwear and point there with the camera,\u201d he told ICON in 2017.<\/p>\n

The reportedly extra-racy cut was restored over 2019 and 2020 in a process supervised by Verhoeven. It will feature bonus material from both Stone and Michael Douglas and is set for a theatrical launch first in France, followed by Australia and New Zealand and then the US, Variety reported<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n
