\n North Korean soldiers are feeling hare-ied by a recent request by military authorities to start breeding more rabbits \u2014 15 of them to be exact, according to a new report.<\/p>\n

The directive from the Ministry of People\u2019s Armed Forces came down June 7 ordering soldiers and their families to raise more bunnies to eat, including some that are at least 7.7 pounds, Daily NK reported.<\/p>\n

The military\u2019s politiburo, the General<\/a> Political Bureau, is billing the new order as a way to boost the country\u2019s meat supply in an inexpensive way \u2014 as part of Kim Jong Un\u2019s order to raise more grass-eating animals.<\/p>\n

An \u201cevaluation\u201d of the soldiers\u2019 breeding efforts will be made before the end of August.<\/p>\n

The request is believed to add more stress to soldiers, who began summer military drills on July 1, the publication said. They\u2019ll have to find bigger cages and more food for their burgeoning nest, on top of preparing for the drills.<\/p>\n

\u201cSoldiers carry out their duties and training in the morning, then have to head into the hills to pick acacia leaves and clover for an hour before they can rest,\u201d a source told Daily NK.<\/p>\n

The source said it was the first time soldiers received specific orders on how many bunnies to raise.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe authorities seem to be subtly hinting that soldiers must find things to eat because they won\u2019t get much food from the government,\u201d the source said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
