But authorities believe he is also a killer \u2014 and has been one the entire time America has known him.<\/p>\n<p>For those who don\u2019t know the longrunning <strong>Food Network<\/strong> show, it follows chef\u00a0<strong>Robert Irvine<\/strong> as he visits failing restaurants and tries to find ways to fix whatever\u2019s holding them back \u2014 be it menu, staff, etc. The show even pays to refurbish locations to give the small businesses their best shot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: Father Charged With Murder Of Infant Son After Bizarre Press Conference<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Columbia, Missouri\u2019s <strong>McLanks<\/strong> was one of the show\u2019s projects in a July 2019 episode. The restaurant was founded by Jeffrey, his mother, and his four siblings and specializes in \u201cAmerican comfort food.\u201d Though they\u2019ve struggled to stay afloat, the boost the show gave them seemed to work. Irvine even <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>eared in a video giving Jeff his blessing, calling his meals \u201cthe best food\u201d they\u2019d had on the show. The restaurant was so popular it also appeared on the 2020 special mini<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> <em>Restaurant Impossible: Back In Business<\/em>, in which the show visited eateries figuring out how to stay open during the lean months of the pandemic.<\/p>\n<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p><script async=\"1\" defer crossorigin=\"anonymous\" src=\"https:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/sdk.js#xfbml=1&amp;version=v10.0\" nonce=\"Vc9k6O5e\"><\/script><\/p>\n<div class=\"fb-video\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/McLanks\/videos\/323939245622963\" data-width=\"640\">\n<blockquote cite=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/McLanks\/videos\/323939245622963\/\" class=\"fb-xfbml-parse-ignore\"><p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/McLanks\/videos\/323939245622963\/\">Jeff\u2019s got Chef Robert Irvine\u2019s approval!<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jeff\u2019s got Chef Robert Irvine\u2019s approval!<\/p>\n<p>Posted by <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/1112737192164046\">McLanks Family Restaurant and Catering<\/a> on Thursday, August 27, 2020<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p>But all that time \u2014 in fact, the entire time the restaurant existed, as they opened their doors in 2017 \u2014 was apparently borrowed time for Jeffrey.<\/p>\n<p>Last Tuesday the reality favorite was arrested and charged for his alleged role in the long unsolved murder of\u00a0<strong>Augustus Roberts<\/strong>, a crime that took place in December 2017 \u2014 the very month McLanks opened.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Case\"><\/span>The Case<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>According to authorities, police got a call about a home invasion at around 3:30 A.M. that night. A witness, a 24-year-old woman who lived in the home with Roberts, said she saw three people in ski masks force their way in \u2014 and that she heard gunshots as she ran away. Responding officers found<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Roberts unconscious; he was later pronounced dead on the scene by medics.<\/p>\n<p>In May 2019, the <strong>DEA<\/strong> revealed they believed the killing to be a drug robbery \u2014 as they had determined about 800 lbs of marijuana had been stolen from a U-Haul truck parked at Roberts\u2019 home. The female witness told police Roberts had told her the truck contained their \u201centire life savings.\u201d Investigators also found a <strong>Ralph Lauren<\/strong> XXXLT-sized pullover nearby that had the victim\u2019s blood on it. But for nearly two years the case stalled\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Apparently a break came in April 2021 when a witness came forward saying he knew who had killed Roberts \u2014 two individuals and a third he knew only as \u201cJeff.\u201d According to court docs, this witness says the trio planned only to commit a robbery but one known only as \u201cDM\u201d screwed up and killed the victim.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators were able to track down Jeff after finding his DNA on the pullover and determining that his cell phone had been in the area at the time of the killing.<\/p>\n<p>Jeff has already been charged with second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, and armed criminal action. Seems like a pretty tight case, sadly.\u00a0And he seemed so nice on the show.<\/p>\n<p>Did he put the money from the robbery into his family\u2019s restaurant? We may find out soon.
