If you have an iPhone, you\u2019ll quickly get an alert that an AirTag is following you. If you\u2019re an Android user, the AirTag will just start beeping three days after it begins tracking you. Here\u2019s how to scan for AirTags.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_It_Works_AirTags_Use_Bluetooth\"><\/span>How It Works: AirTags Use Bluetooth<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p> Here\u2019s how this works: <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Apple-MX532AM-A-New-AirTag\/dp\/B0933BVK6T?tag=hotoge-20\">AirTags<\/a> use Bluetooth so nearby devices on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">App<\/a>le\u2019s Find My network can spot them. If you use a Bluetooth scanner app\u2014the kind of app that shows nearby Bluetooth devices\u2014you will see any nearby AirTags appear in the list of nearby Bluetooth devices.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s a little more complicated than it sounds. The Apple AirTag won\u2019t show up as an \u201cAirTag\u201d in the list, but it will appear as an unnamed Bluetooth device\u2014and it does say it\u2019s an Apple device, so it may be easy to spot the AirTag if you don\u2019t own any Apple-made Bluetooth gadgets.<\/p>\n<p>Also, once you\u2019ve spotted the device that appears to be an AirTag, you can move your Android phone around and pay attention to signal strength to pin down its location.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Scan_For_AirTags_on_Android\"><\/span>How to Scan For AirTags on Android<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To scan or nearby AirTags, you\u2019ll need a Bluetooth scanner app. We used <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.punchthrough.lightblueexplorer\">LightBlue<\/a>, a free Bluetooth scanner app available on the Google Play Store. Install the app on your Android phone, launch it, and perform a scan.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll see all nearby Bluetooth devices here\u2014everything from Bluetooth mice and keyboards to headphones to AirTags. If you live in an apartment building or you\u2019re currently in a public location, bear in mind that you may see other people\u2019s nearby devices in this list.<\/p>\n<p>So, if you want an easier time spotting AirTags in the list, it may be helpful to get away from other people\u2019s devices. You\u2019ll have an easier time spotting an AirTag in your bag if you\u2019re in the middle of an empty field than if you\u2019re sitting in the middle of an airport.<\/p>\n<p>The AirTag will appear as an \u201cUnnamed\u201d device. If you tap it, you\u2019ll see that the \u201cManufacturer specific data\u201d field says this particular entry is an Apple device, which is a hint that this particular device might be an AirTag. It could also be another piece of hardware made by Apple, of course.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"admonishment_note\"><p><strong>Note:<\/strong> Note that the AirTag\u2019s device ID\u2014that\u2019s the string of values that appears as \u201c42:9A:35:A7:99:51\u201d in the below screenshot\u2014will automatically change to new random values over time. Just tap the back of your Android phone (or an iPhone) against the white side of the AirTag.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Obviously_This_Isnt_Ideal\"><\/span>Obviously, This Isn\u2019t Ideal<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Clearly, this isn\u2019t an ideal solution. With the launch of AirTags in early 2021, iPhone users will get a quick notification that an AirTag is following them\u2014but Android users have to wait three days to hear a beep or scan for AirTags manually. That\u2019s far from ideal.<\/p>\n<p>What happens if Google releases a similar Bluetooth tracker in the future? Do Android users get a quick notification a Google Tag is following them, but iPhone users have to wait three days to hear a beep?<\/p>\n<p>Clearly, more interoperability would be ideal\u2014if Apple and Google created a cross-platform standard that would let Android quickly detect nearby AirTags in the same way, that\u2019d be great.
