{"id":252952,"date":"2021-05-18T23:50:08","date_gmt":"2021-05-18T20:50:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/74k-nyc-construction-jobs-lost-during-pandemic\/"},"modified":"2021-05-18T23:50:08","modified_gmt":"2021-05-18T20:50:08","slug":"74k-nyc-construction-jobs-lost-during-pandemic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/74k-nyc-construction-jobs-lost-during-pandemic\/","title":{"rendered":"#74K NYC construction jobs lost during pandemic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#74K NYC construction jobs lost during pandemic<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The New York City construction industry lost 74,000 jobs and $9.8 billion in activity last year during shutdowns triggered by the coronavirus pandemic, according to a new study by an industry group \u2014 which is urging lawmakers to take action to get hard hats back to work. <\/p>\n<p>The COVID-19 safety restrictions that closed job sites resulted in a loss of $5.5 billion in wages and 8.3 percent in commercial real estate, mortgage recording and transfer taxes to the city, the analysis conducted for the Building Trades Employers Association said.<\/p>\n<p>The building and construction trade industry represents 20 percent of the city\u2019s economy, 10 percent of jobs and 5 percent of wages, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>The city is not expected to regain all the jobs lost during the pandemic until 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re at a critical point in our history. We\u2019re strangling ourselves,\u201d he added, referring to the proposed Amazon campus along the Queens waterfront that was scuttled by anti-development politics.<\/p>\n<p>Coletti is urging Gov.
