It\u2019s been billed as the series finale for a reason, as the network is clearly planning to move forward and it\u2019s not on its fall schedule. As for\u00a0<em>why\u00a0<\/em>it is canceled, there are two different factors at play here:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ratings\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 Season 2 is down more than 40% in the 18-49 demographic from season 1. More often than not, that is going to be a cause for cancellation. There\u2019s just no real way around that. We know that it performs well in viewings after the fact, but Fox doesn\u2019t get all of the money from that.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cost\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 We recognize fully that this show isn\u2019t cheap \u2014 any production that films in New York comes with it a price tag! It just didn\u2019t make financial sense for the network to continue the series, even if it would\u2019ve been nice to see that h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>en.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Is_there_still_hope_for_a_season_3\"><\/span>Is there still hope for a season 3?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>We wouldn\u2019t rule it out, but we do think there are only a limited number of suitors. The top one to us may be HBO Max, given that the show\u2019s darker subject matter could be a fit there \u2014 also, this is a Warner Bros. show and the studio\/HBO Max share the same parent company. More and more these days, there\u2019s a real emphasis on networks owning some of their programming \u2014 it gives them more revenue for the viewers they do have in a fragmented time.<\/p>\n<p>Certainly if you love\u00a0<em>Prodigal Son,\u00a0<\/em>keep fighting for it!
