It almost\u00a0<em>had\u00a0<\/em>to. What we did not expect was the way in which it ended: With the potential death of Martin at his son\u2019s own hand.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, this\u00a0<em>is\u00a0<\/em>the big question here: Is Michael Sheen\u2019s character really dead? While he was stabbed, that doesn\u2019t mean that he is gone. He and Malcolm were found, and we\u2019ve seen enough TV stabbings at this point to know that this isn\u2019t the sort of thing that is 100% fatal.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re wanting the show\u2019s executive producers to be clear about Martin\u2019s fate, though, you\u2019re going to be disappointed. They\u2019re still trying to get the show saved and with that, they are keeping the cards close to the vest. Speaking to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/tvline.com\/2021\/05\/18\/prodigal-son-cancelled-season-2-finale-ending-explained\/\">TVLine<\/a>, here is all executive producer Sam Sklaver had to say on the subject:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u2026I would just like fans to be very happy with this finale. However they want Martin to be at the end \u2014 I know how <i>I<\/i>\u00a0imagine Martin being in the end, but I don\u2019t want to say something that makes someone less happy, you know what I mean?
