A trio of anonymous operatic vocalists were captured in a jaw-dropping sing-along on a nearly empty New York City subway car last Sunday. <\/p>\n

Obscured by face masks, the singers have yet to be identified. (Is it you?)<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, amid near-nonstop reports of violent attacks and service disruptions \u2014 the city\u2019s much-derided transit system has long been a wellspring of some of the world\u2019s most underrated soloists.<\/p>\n

Following in the footsteps of now famous buskers such as Ed Sheeran, Beck and Tracy Chapman, for example, there\u2019s Just Sam, the 22-year-old \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d winner who built her career by busking on NYC subways. <\/p>\n

Or, there\u2019s secret sensation Charlotte Awbery, who blew us away in early 2020 when she was asked to sing Lady Gaga\u2019s \u201cShallow\u201d on-the-spot in a London tube station. A video of her spontaneous performance went viral instantly, landing her a spot on \u201cEllen\u201d a week later, and the chance to record her own version of the Oscar-winning tune.<\/p>\n

Indeed, despite humble beginnings, these underground entertainers are high caliber. And it\u2019s not just singers. Dancers, too, have created a new form that is wholly unique to subway trains \u2014 using benches and stanchions as props for their subterranean acrobatics. <\/p>\n

Even hip-hop icon Missy Elliott, a champion of groundbreaking choreography, had to give props to a crew of young New York City dancers whose \u201cshowtime\u201d performance to Missy\u2019s \u201cLose Control\u201d was watched millions of times over on social media<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis video [has] so much energy I was hyping them up through my phone,\u201d she wrote of the footage, shared last month. \u201cThey SNAPP<\/a>ED Hard!\u201d<\/p>\n

As for the angelic subway chorus caught caroling last weekend, the moment is yours \u2014 so you might want to tag yourselves if you see this. <\/p>\n
