“#Five people shot, one fatally, overnight<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Five people were shot \u2014 one fatally \u2014 in gun violence across the city overnight, cops said Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Two alleged gangbangers, 20 and 24, were leaving a deli at Willis Avenue and East 137th Street in Mott Haven around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday when someone got out of a car and started firing at the pair, cops said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The gunman started chasing them \u2014 striking the older victim numerous times, and the younger man once in the leg, police said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Officers stationed at a nearby mobile command post called for medical aid for the victims, cops said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The older man, identified as Charles Wilkins, 24, was taken to Lincoln Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.<\/p>\n

The younger victim was listed in stable condition.\u00a0<\/p>\n

No arrests have been made.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Both victims are members of the ABG gang \u2014 which stands for Any Body Get It \u2014 a subset of the Crips, according to police.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The fatal victim had 13 sealed arrests, police said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Around 1:20 a.m. Wednesday in Staten Island\u2019s Graniteville neighborhood, a 39-year-old man was grazed in the right shin and shot in the left leg during a dispute with two other men on Elson Street near Lamberts Lane, cops said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He was taken to Richmond University Medical Center in stable condition.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Earlier Tuesday evening, a 52-year-old man was blasted in the leg around 8:15 p.m. at the playground of NYCHA\u2019s Seth Low Houses in Brownsville, cops said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A black Nissan pulled up and someone hopped out and started firing into the playground, cops said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As the trio tried to flee, cops busted them, police said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The victim was taken to the Kings County Hospital Center in stable condition.<\/p>\n

And about an hour earlier, a 24-year-old man was shot in the left hand at East 119th Street and Lexington Avenue in East Harlem, cops said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He was taken by private means to Harlem Hospital, also in stable condition.<\/p>\n

The violence comes as the Big Apple grapples with a surge in shootings.<\/p>\n

The latest statistics show an 81 percent increase in shootings so far this year, as of Sunday \u2014 490 incidents compared to 270 during the same period in 2020.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
