The new features try to make the most of the photos that you wouldn\u2019t normally look back, including the addition of a private image folder and newfangled ways of showing off your menial or redundant pictures.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Password-protected_photos\"><\/span>Password-protected photos<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>It\u2019s about time: Google is introducing a Locked Folder for images you\u2019d rather hide behind a password or biometric authentication.\u00a0One personal example: I\u2019ve been trying to lose weight, and I\u2019d rather not my progress photos be visible on my Nest Hub, thank-you-very-much.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"post-image post-mediaBleed aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1351579 js-lazy\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn0.tnwcdn.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2021\/05\/E855_Photos_IO_Social_Assets_LockedFolder_v04_nl_1.gif\"\/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1351579\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn0.tnwcdn.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2021\/05\/E855_Photos_IO_Social_Assets_LockedFolder_v04_nl_1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"\"\/><\/noscript><\/figure>\n<p>Locked Folders are launching first on Pixel devices and will arrive on more Android devices throughout the year. Pixel devices will also be able to directly save photos to the locked folder right from the camera.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Even_more_cinematic_photos\"><\/span>Even more cinematic photos<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Google launched cinematic photos back in December, a feature that made your stills a bit more 3-dimensional through an element of motion. Now Google is expanding this feature by allowing you to incorporate multiple images into a kind of slow-motion animated image.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"post-image post-mediaBleed aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1351581 js-lazy\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn0.tnwcdn.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2021\/05\/E855_Photos_IO_Social_Assets_CinematicPhotos_Part02_v01_cl_sm.gif\"\/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1351581\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn0.tnwcdn.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2021\/05\/E855_Photos_IO_Social_Assets_CinematicPhotos_Part02_v01_cl_sm.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"\"\/><\/noscript><\/figure>\n<p>Chances are you\u2019ve seen this type of effect before; it\u2019s often used in TV commercials and the like, and it can take quite a while to do in <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=GZimVBFSGm0\">traditional video software<\/a>. Google\u2019s AI is able to do it automatically.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"post-image post-mediaBleed aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1351582 js-lazy\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn0.tnwcdn.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2021\/05\/E855_Photos_IO_Social_Assets_CinematicPhotos_Part01_v01_cl_6zNG70C.gif\"\/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1351582\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn0.tnwcdn.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2021\/05\/E855_Photos_IO_Social_Assets_CinematicPhotos_Part01_v01_cl_6zNG70C.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"\"\/><\/noscript><\/figure>\n<p>Google notes that most people take two or three photos when capturing a moment in order to get the shot just right. Cinematic photos allow these extra shots to not go to waste, as Google will recognize similar images and automatically create the animations. You can then share these as a video with friends and family.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Highlighting_your_%E2%80%98little_patterns\"><\/span>Highlighting your \u2018little patterns\u2019<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>It turns out AI is pretty good at recognizing patterns. Google has noticed that people have a tendency to take photos of similar objects or subjects \u2014 habits that we might not even notice ourselves. Google is now collecting these in mini albums called Little Patterns<\/p>\n<p>For example, the company noted one Googler that tended to take photos of his orange backpack, while another had a tendency to take photos of circular objects.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"post-image post-mediaBleed aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1351583 js-lazy\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn0.tnwcdn.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2021\/05\/E855_Photos_IO_Social_Assets_LittlePatterns_v06_cl.gif\"\/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1351583\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn0.tnwcdn.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2021\/05\/E855_Photos_IO_Social_Assets_LittlePatterns_v06_cl.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"\"\/><\/noscript><\/figure>\n<p>The collection of patterns will show up on your Photos feed alongside Memories and other highlights.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Get_rid_of_those_photos_of_your_ex_or_other_photos_you_dont_want_to_remember\"><\/span>Get rid of those photos of your ex (or other photos you don\u2019t want to remember)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Google Photos lets us look back at a virtually infinite number of memories, but most of us don\u2019t want to be able to look back at <em>every<\/em> photo we might\u2019ve taken. Whether it\u2019s because they were taken with an ex or because we just don\u2019t want to remember a certain time period, Google says it\u2019s offering more control over which photos the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a> resurfaces.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"post-image post-mediaBleed aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1351580 js-lazy\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn0.tnwcdn.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2021\/05\/E855_Photos_IO_Social_Assets_MemoryControls_v01_cl.gif\"\/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1351580\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn0.tnwcdn.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2021\/05\/E855_Photos_IO_Social_Assets_MemoryControls_v01_cl.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"\"\/><\/noscript><\/figure>\n<p>Google says it \u201cspecifically heard from the transgender community that resurfacing certain photos is painful\u201d and is working with partners at GLAAD to make Photos more inclusive. In particular:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It\u2019s making controls to hide certain people or time periods easier to find later this summer.<\/li>\n<li>Starting today, you\u2019ll also be able to rename <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trip<\/a> highlights.<\/li>\n<li>You\u2019ll be able to remove a single photo from Memories soon.<\/li>\n<li>You can remove Best of Month Memories and rename or remove Memories as well.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>They\u2019re welcome changes; as a Google photos user I appreciate some of the app\u2019s automated features, but it can also seem like the app is trying a little too hard to decide what\u2019s important to me.
