\nYet another division between\u00a0Meghan Markle<\/strong> and the royal family \u2014 that was app<\/a>arently worse than we thought!<\/p>\n

According to royal experts in the\u00a0documentary special\u00a0A Very Royal Baby: From Cradle to Crown<\/em>, which aired on Channel 4<\/strong> in the UK on Wednesday, one of the *many* things about Meghan which upset them? Her baby shower!<\/p>\n

Wait, REALLY?!?<\/p>\n

In case you don\u2019t remember, Meghan made a clandestine trip<\/a> to New York City, reportedly in a private jet on pal Amal Clooney<\/strong>\u2018s dime, in order to celebrate her upcoming royal baby with her best American friends.<\/p>\n

The event was held at the Mark Hotel<\/strong> on the Upper East Side, and while it was meant to be more or less a secret the guest list made it a bit tricky to keep quiet. As royal biographer Ingrid Seward<\/strong> recalls in the doc:<\/p>\n

\u201cThey walked in through the front entrance carrying these enormous bags from the most expensive shops in New York. Crowds gathered because they were all celebrities, there was Gayle King<\/strong> from CBS<\/strong>, Serena Williams<\/strong>, and Amal Clooney.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Seward describes the whole event as \u201ctrashy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Um, what?? How is a bunch of girlfriends celebrating someone\u2019s impending motherhood with a nice party and gifts \u201ctrashy\u201d??<\/p>\n

Royal expert Omid Scobie<\/strong> explains this kind of to-do is\u00a0\u201cas far from British tradition as you can get\u201d:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had never seen someone throw this very lavish affair to celebrate the impending arrival of a baby.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

OK, maybe you hadn\u2019t thrown one, but the idea of baby showers surely must have gotten to y\u2019all by 2019. You watch all our damn TV shows.<\/p>\n

We\u2019d heard before that the Palace was not<\/em> OK with how \u201cflashy\u201d the affair had been, but we understood that to mean how\u00a0public<\/em>, that they were upset with Meghan acting like an American celebrity rather than their brand \u2014 which, let\u2019s admit, is no less flashy and opulent.<\/p>\n

But the way Scobie claims to have heard it, the disgust may have been slightly different:<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember speaking to a palace aide at the time who rolled their eyes, they were horrified that something so common was happening within the House of Windsor.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cSo common.\u201d Uh huh. We think we see now.<\/p>\n

The idea of gifts and things being exchanged by people who love one another must seem so gauche to people who grow up in a literal palace, is that it? Ugh, what snobbery!<\/p>\n

Even if you don\u2019t always take Meghan\u2019s side in her conflicts with the Firm, you have to admit that\u2026 a stuffy institution known for its inordinate wealth clutching their gold-encrusted pearls at a baby shower? Sorry, but that\u2019s just absurd.<\/p>\n
