Hall, \u201cThe Stranger,\u201d starring Richard Armitage and Spanish-language <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> \u201cThe Innocent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And there are more coming down the pike, including \u201cStay Close\u201d (no premiere date yet and recent Spanish series \u201cThe Innocent,\u201d with more the works \u2014 including \u201cStay Close\u201d (no premiere date yet), starring Armitage (again) and Cush Jumbo.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve written a series of 11 books about [character] Myron Bolitar, and three [spinoff] <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/bookseries\/B00PPD6V8C?tag=nypost-20\">novels<\/a> which are young adult \u2014 so, those books were not part of the deal,\u201d said Coben, 59, who lives in North Jersey. \u201cAll of what we call \u2018stand-alone\u2019 novels that were not already made or under other contracts are part of this Netflix deal.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" alt=\"Michael C. Adam\u2019s wife dis<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ears as he\u2019s grappling with the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>, further deepening the mystery. \u201cSafe\u201d follows Tom Delaney (Hall), who uncovers secrets while he\u2019s searching for his missing daughter; \u201cThe Five\u201d starring O.T. Fagbenle (\u201cThe Handmaid\u2019s Tale\u201d) follows childhood friends who are reunited when DNA evidence from a murder scene traces back to one of their brothers, who vanished 20  years before. <\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s also \u201cThe Innocent\u201d (or \u201cEl Inocente\u201d), which follows law student Mateo Vidal (Mario Casas), who accidentally kills a man in a bar fight and finds his life spiraling even after he serves his prison sentence; \u201cThe Woods,\u201d meanwhile, follows prosecutor Pawe\u0142 Kopi\u0144ski (Grzegorz Dami\u0119cki), who\u2019s working on a case that\u2019s novels circulating worldwide, sets many of his stories in his native New Jersey \u2014 but, unusually, most of his TV adaptations are international. \u201cSafe\u201d and \u201cThe Stranger\u201d move their settings to the UK, while \u201cThe Woods\u201d is Polish, \u201cThe Innocent\u201d is Spanish and the upcoming series, \u201cGone for Good,\u201d takes place in France.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div so I was talking to Netflix about maybe making a show there,\u201d said Coben. \u201cThey kind of came up with the idea like, \u2018We want to do a lot in a lot of different countries where your books seem to do well.\u2019 This had a great deal of appeal to me, because I think we\u2019re in the golden age of television \u2014 especially in terms of international television, where Americans especially are willing to watch shows from other countries.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Even before his collaboration with Netflix, Coben\u2019s adaptations were often international, including the 2006 French film <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0362225\/\">\u201cTell No One.\u201d<\/a> He has some ideas about why his books are a hit overseas, he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrance especially is probably my biggest European country. What they tell me is [that] it\u2019s the fact that it\u2019s not just a thriller, but it has heart. It\u2019s one thing to have a fast-moving plot; I can stir your mind and your pulse. But if I\u2019m not also stirring your heart \u2014 if you don\u2019t care what happens to Adam in \u2018The Stranger\u2019 or these different characters \u2014 it\u2019s not going to work. But Coben said he embraces the adjustments.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat was really great about a lot of the shows like \u2018The Innocent\u2019 is that I could work with the absolute top talent in those countries. Oriol Paulo, who directed and wrote most of the show, is a top director in Spain. So the idea that we could combine a hybrid of my American novel in Spain or France or Poland or England \u2014 that was really interesting to me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the most boring adaptations are the ones that are slavishly devoted to the text,\u201d he said. \u201cThe comparison that I use is songs. If I wrote a hit song called \u2018The Innocent\u2019 and somebody in Spain is remaking it, I don\u2019t want them to sound exactly like me; that would be boring. I want them to bring in their culture, their background, their musical styles into it with my song. I think that makes it richer.
