\u201cFriends\u201d star Matthew Perry had a wildly drunken encounter with \u201cSixth Sense\u201d director M. Night Shyamalan about two decades ago \u2014 but the incident evolved into a wacky case of nearly mistaken identity that has since become Hollywood legend.<\/p>\n

The boozy bombshell first dropped during a 2016 episode of \u201cThe Graham Norton Show,\u201d<\/a> when \u201c17 Again\u201d star Perry claimed to have partied hard with the Indian-American auteur in the early 2000s. Perry, 51, said that \u2014 at the time \u2014 his story was dismissed by a friend who believed that he was hanging with just some \u201crandom Indian dude.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, in a twist worthy of one of his movies<\/a>, Shyamalan revealed <\/a>that the Hollywood urban legend was, in fact, true. He spilled the spiked tea during a 2021 video app<\/a>earance on Norton\u2019s talk show \u2014 just as buzz started to swirl around Perry\u2019s return to the spotlight<\/a> in the \u201cFriends\u201d reunion on HBO Max<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m watching it [Perry\u2019s 2016 appearance], and here\u2019s the twist: We did<\/em> actually hang out,\u201d said Shyamalan, 50, who was promoting the second season of his Apple TV+<\/a> series \u201cServant.\u201d<\/p>\n
