The odd-looking fish are known for their mouth, which resembles a suction cup full of teeth.<\/p>\n<p>Karl Bly filmed one of the encounters with the lamprey and posted the footage to the\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ARKayaker\/posts\/2519635554849700\">American River Lost<\/a>\u00a0and Found page, which he runs.<\/p>\n<p>He wrote, \u201cVideoed the second Lamprey of the Season and the second one I\u2019ve seen in 30 years\u2026. just a peaceful swim.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bly told reporters that he hasn\u2019t seen a full-grown lamprey in the American River in decades,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/american-river-diver-parasitic-vampire-fish-lamprey-that-feed-off-shark-1593337\">Newsweek\u00a0reports<\/a>. There, they attach themselves to a larger animal, like a dolphin, shark or whale, and then feed off of the larger host.<\/p>\n<p>The official clarified that lampreys are not considered dangerous to humans.
