Oh, the horror!<\/p>\n

Stephen King has revealed that fellow bestselling author J.K. Rowling completely blocked him when he stood up for the trans community.<\/p>\n

\u201cJo canceled me,\u201d the 73-year-old horror-fiction legend told the Daily Beast<\/a> of his spat with the Harry Potter author, whose full name is Joanne Kathleen Rowling.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe sorta blocked me and all that,\u201d he said of their Twitter<\/a> tiff last June that even included Rowling deleting an earlier message of praise for him.<\/p>\n

Their to-do started when King was asked by fans about his views in the midst of Rowling getting accused of being transphobic over a series<\/a> of tweets and follow-up blog posts.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes. Trans women are women,\u201d\u00a0King responded<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 much to the ire of the \u201cFantastic Beasts\u201d author.<\/p>\n

\u201cHere\u2019s the thing: She is welcome to her opinion,\u201d King told the Daily Beast of Rowling\u2019s much-maligned messages.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIf she thinks that trans women are dangerous, or that trans women are somehow not women, or whatever problem she has with it \u2014 the idea that someone \u2018masquerading as a woman\u2019 is going to assault a \u2018real\u2019 woman in the toilet \u2014 if she believes all those things, she has a right to her opinion,\u201d he insisted.<\/p>\n

But \u201cwhat she got angry about\u201d was \u201cmy opinion,\u201d King said, suggesting his fellow wordsmith had been hypocritical.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s like the old saying, \u2018I don\u2019t agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it,’\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, nobody has \u2018canceled\u2019 J.K. Rowling. She\u2019s doing fine. I just felt that her belief was, in my opinion, wrong.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have differing opinions, but that\u2019s life,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He also insisted that Rowling\u2019s \u201copinion on trans women is an outlier in her entire political spectrum.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s on the side of the angels in most respects, but she does have this one thing that she\u2019s very vehement about. No doubt,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

King also bucked the trend and came out in support of cancel culture.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll that\u2019s happ<\/a>ening here \u2026 is that the way they\u2019re used to doing business no longer works as well as it used to,\u201d he said in the interview.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you do the crime, you gotta do the time,\u201d he insisted.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
