You can change that pretty easily, though. Let\u2019s take a look at how.<\/p>\n<p>You can change the default save location from the screenshot tool. It\u2019s probably the cleanest choice if you don\u2019t like cluttering up your hard drive with extra files.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Messages:<\/strong>\u00a0This option opens a new message with the screenshot attached. This allows you to send it to one of your contacts quickly.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mail:<\/strong>\u00a0This option creates a new email in the Mail app with the screenshot attached. If you\u2019d like to send screenshots through a web client like Gmail, it\u2019s best to use the Clipboard option and paste it in manually.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Preview:<\/strong>\u00a0This opens the screenshot in Preview, where you can edit it before saving it to your computer or copying it to the clipboard.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-728345\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/choose-a-new-save-to-location.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"499\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Alternatively, at the bottom of the list of options, you can click the \u201cOther Location\u201d listing to select a different folder on your computer. A Finder window will appear.
