Eight people were shot in New York City overnight as gun violence continues to surge in the Big App<\/a>le ahead of the summer, police said Sunday. <\/p>\n

Just before midnight, three young men were shot at the corner of East 171st Street and Washington Avenue in the Bronx\u2019s Claremont neighborhood, police said. An 18-year-old and 19-year-old were both shot in their legs, and a 23-year-old was shot in the left shoulder, cops said. <\/p>\n

The 19-year-old man was taken to Lincoln Hospital via private means, and the other two victims were rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital by medics, according to police. <\/p>\n

About 45 minutes later, a 27-year-old man was shot in his right knee during a dispute with a stranger at 295 Maple St. in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, sources said. The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition, police said. <\/p>\n

The gunplay continued just after 2:15 a.m. in Inwood at the corner of 9th Avenue and West 206th Street, where a man on a blue motorcycle attempted to rob a 28-year-old man by brandishing a gun, cops said. After refusing to hand over money, the gun-toting biker wearing a red jacket shot the man in the right leg, snatched the wounded man\u2019s chain off his neck while he was lying on the ground and sped off on his motorcycle, cops said.<\/p>\n

The victim was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, police said. <\/p>\n

In Norwood, two young men were walking on the sidewalk near 275 Gun Hill Road when a person in a black sedan fired off several rounds at them, cops said. A 21-year-old was hit in the torso and a 19-year-old got shot in the right arm. They were taken to Jacobi Medical Center in stable condition, according to police.<\/p>\n

Twelve shell casings were recovered from the scene, according to sources. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in Hunts Point in the Bronx, a 22-year-old man was struck by a bullet in the left shoulder during a dispute with another man just before 4:30 a.m.<\/p>\n

The wounded man went to Bronx Lebanon Hospital via private means, police said. His condition wasn\u2019t immedia<\/a>tely known.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
