A 9-year-old Indiana boy recently found $5,000 while cleaning out his dad\u2019s SUV \u2014 and was able to keep $1,000 for himself, a report said.<\/p>\n

Little Landon Melvin found the cash stuffed in an envelope under the floorboard of his dad\u2019s Chevy Suburban, which the family purchased used last September, they told WRTV<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The youngster alerted his father, Michael Melvin, to the find. The father was initially skeptical, assuming the package contained paperwork. <\/p>\n

But the father was left shocked at what he saw when they later opened it up.<\/p>\n

\u201cI start calling my wife, \u2018Hey, babe, you got to check this out!’\u201d Michael told the news<\/a> station. \u201cAnd that\u2019s when we dump it on the bed and money falls over the bed.\u201d<\/p>\n

The family traced the money to the car\u2019s previous owners.<\/p>\n

As a reward for his discovery, that family told the Melvin\u2019s they would not take the money back unless Landon could keep $1,000.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m thinking of all the things I can buy,\u201d Landon said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
