Belarus at a summit dinner on Monday night, after the country\u2019s president Alexander Lukashenko <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/europe\/fury-over-belarus-airliner-action-set-dominate-eu-summit-2021-05-24\/\" class=\"icon none\">scrambled a jet fighter<\/a> to force a\u00a0Ryanair<br \/>\n        RYAAY,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/204098489\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+0.02%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n      \u00a0<br \/>\n        RYA,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/202851567\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-0.33%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       flight carrying a dissident journalist to land in Minsk on Sunday.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"articleList\">\n<li>\n      The Irish plane was on a regular flight from Athens, Greece, to Vilnius, Lithuania, and was forced to land by Belarusian authorities after a bomb scare, later ruled a false alarm, was triggered by some passengers.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      Activist Roman Protasevich, 26, a passenger on the plane, was arrested by Belarusian police upon landing, before the plane was allowed to resume its journey.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      \u201cThis was effectively aviation piracy, state sponsored,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/europe\/fury-over-state-piracy-west-weighs-action-against-belarus-2021-05-24\/\" class=\"icon none\">said<\/a> Ireland\u2019s foreign minister Simon Coveney, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/tass.com\/world\/1293011\" class=\"icon none\">reflecting<\/a> the opinion of European policy makers.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/vonderleyen\/status\/1396566441370001413\" class=\"icon none\">tweeted<\/a> that \u201cthe outrageous and illegal behavior of the regime in Belarus will have consequence,\u201d and demanded that Protasevich \u201cbe released im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken asked for an immediate meeting of the International Civil Aviation Organization, and said the U.S. was coordinating with allies on the next steps, with NATO calling the incident \u201cserious and dangerous.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div data-layout=\"inline\n
