However, you should know this is definitely \u201cnot\u201d that kind of film. While the title peaked my interest as a potential horror piece, it\u2019s also worth pointing out that the film is meant more as a crime, mystery thriller.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-55670\" title=\"The-Tall-Man-Movie-2012-movie-5\" src=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/The-Tall-Man-Movie-2012-movie-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"253\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/The-Tall-Man-Movie-2012-movie-5.jpg 450w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/The-Tall-Man-Movie-2012-movie-5-400x225.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Director Pascal Laugier offers up a new product that after viewing, is quite a different beast than his previously extreme-based spiritual-laden \u201c<strong>Martyrs<\/strong>\u201c. I\u2019m quite convinced that Pascal Laugier is a man of invention always presenting a story that not only entertains but leaves you with more to ponder. How you process the information may fall within your own stance on morals an ethics.<\/p>\n<p>Jessica Biel stars as the local nurse Julia Denning who resides in the depressed small town of Cold Rock (Washington). A widow of the area\u2019s former doctor, Julia cares for those who will allow her. The town is in many ways a product of its own ignorance, but a few still champion their roles and give back what they can. The town of Cold Rock has also been hit by hard times for quite some time now. Cold Rock has a dark secret in the form of an urban legend attached to it (due to the missing children epidemic \u2013 we are\u00a0also informed in the\u00a0opening credits).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-55671\" title=\"The-Tall-Man-Movie-2012-movie-6\" src=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/The-Tall-Man-Movie-2012-movie-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"253\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/The-Tall-Man-Movie-2012-movie-6.jpg 450w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/The-Tall-Man-Movie-2012-movie-6-400x225.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>The Tall Man<\/strong>\u201d is an entity name\u00a0that the locals use to describe the dark man who has stolen the area\u2019s children. Some have claimed to see him while others are merely passing the notion along. In any case, there has been a history of Cold Rock\u2019s children turning up missing. The local police and the FBI all report running into dead ends, however the town is looking for someone to take the fall (.to connect to the more ambiguous Tall Man legend). The main investigator for the case is a man by the name of Lt. Dodd (Stephen McHattie). What transpires is best described as \u201cspellbinding\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Denning is intent on tracking down the supposed abductor and discovering the where-abouts of the children. This notion will lead you into a few surprises that stack on each quite nicely (as in don\u2019t make assumptions). The biggest thrill here is not knowing and then discovering\u00a0the bigger picture at hand. Where \u201cThe The Tall Man\u201d may lack in scares, or horror content, it makes up for in a cohesive well rounded story. And while it\u2019s my intention to stay clear of its reveals, I feel in the end you\u2019ll really be glad you came and experienced it on your own.<span id=\"more-52131\"\/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-55669\" title=\"The-Tall-Man-Movie-2012-movie-4\" src=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/The-Tall-Man-Movie-2012-movie-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"542\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/The-Tall-Man-Movie-2012-movie-4.jpg 400w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/The-Tall-Man-Movie-2012-movie-4-369x500.jpg 369w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>The Tall Man<\/strong>\u201d is a film\u00a0I\u2019m expecting many to have a mix\u00a0of reactions. Mainly due to it being marketed as a horror film and it being in reality something far different. That element is here much like in the film \u201cThe Village\u201d, but it seems to hold a deeper purpose based on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a> commentary. With that being said, I thought this was a fantastic film which \u201ccould have\u201d unrolled in a manner that fits within the formula we expect, but in fact aims to make a statement about the quality of life for young children.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-55668\" title=\"The-Tall-Man-Movie-2012-movie-3\" src=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/The-Tall-Man-Movie-2012-movie-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/The-Tall-Man-Movie-2012-movie-3.jpg 450w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/The-Tall-Man-Movie-2012-movie-3-400x267.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Actress Jessica Biel gives a powerfully authentic performance which easily carries the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a> farther beyond its potentially bland expectations. With her more recent run of feature roles, it\u2019s no wonder that she is gaining attention after her great performance here. Even when dialog is unneeded, you can still see the purpose within her eyes.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-55666\" title=\"The-Tall-Man-Movie-2012-movie-1\" src=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/The-Tall-Man-Movie-2012-movie-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"305\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/The-Tall-Man-Movie-2012-movie-1.jpg 450w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/The-Tall-Man-Movie-2012-movie-1-400x271.jpg 400w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/The-Tall-Man-Movie-2012-movie-1-110x75.jpg 110w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Do I think this is one to own? I think that Pascal Laugier dares to offer us things that don\u2019t fit all the molds, and for that it makes a great product to have. When we\u2019ve exhausted ourselves of derivative horror films and common storylines, it\u2019s the few like this one that makes a gray week a little more colorful.
