Chrome 91 stabilizes Linux on Chromebooks, improves Tab Search, powers up Copy &amp; Paste, and improves Chrome OS in other ways.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Linux_on_Chromebooks_Finally_Leaves_Beta\"><\/span>Linux on Chromebooks Finally Leaves Beta<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Linux <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>s have been available on select Chromebooks for about three years, but it\u2019s always been in a \u201cbeta.\u201d Chrome OS 91 finally marks\u00a0Linux on Chromebooks\u00a0as a stable piece of software.<\/p>\n<p>Not much will be changing with Linux on Chromebooks right away. Google continues to work on Linux by adding new APIs and better integration with the device hardware. In Chrome OS 91, the feature (which has since come to Chrome on the desktop as well) now shows a list of recently closed tabs as well.<\/p>\n<p>The feature is very simple. You just click the Tab Search icon and you\u2019ll see a list of recently closed tabs under the list of currently open tabs. It\u2019s a handy way to access these pages without going into History.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED:<\/strong> <strong><em>How to Search Open Tabs on Google Chrome<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Copy_Paste_for_Files\"><\/span>Copy &amp; Paste for Files<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Chrome obviously has copy and paste functionality, but Chrome 91 takes it to another level. You can now copy a file from anywhere on your computer and then paste it into an email.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, if you wanted to attach a file to an email, you\u2019d have to drag it from the file explorer and drop it in the email tab. You can now simply Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste it.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the feature is available behind a flag. These are things like radio buttons, checkboxes, date selectors, and progress bars. The old form controls hadn\u2019t been updated in a while and were starting to look outdated. A new option in the menu will allow you to \u201cFollow\u201d a website. Whenever that site published new content, it will show up in the new \u201cFollowing\u201d section on the New Tab page.<\/p>\n<p>This feature is still in the early stages and you probably won\u2019t see it in Chrome 91 right away, but it\u2019s something to look forward to\u2014especially if you miss RSS.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-730432 size-full\" alt=\"Chrome's &quot;Follow&quot; feature.\" width=\"640\" height=\"556\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.chromium.org\/2021\/05\/an-experiment-in-helping-users-and-web.html\" data-credittext=\"Google\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span class=\"imagecredit\"><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.chromium.org\/2021\/05\/an-experiment-in-helping-users-and-web.html\">Google<\/a><\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Else_Is_New\"><\/span>What Else Is New?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Chrome 91 is particularly light on user-facing changes, but there\u2019s always more going on behind the scenes.\u00a0You can read about many of these changes on\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/developer.chrome.com\/blog\/new-in-devtools-91\/\">Google\u2019s developer site<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.chromium.org\/2021\/04\/chrome-91-handwriting-recognition-webxr.html\">Chromium blog<\/a>. We\u2019ll highlight a few changes here:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>New Origin Trials in this release:<\/strong>\u00a0Declarative Link Capturing for PWAs,\u00a0WebTransport, and\u00a0WebXR Plane Detection API.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chromestatus.com\/feature\/6013006146174976\">Suggested File Name and Location<\/a>:<\/strong> Web apps can now suggest the name and location of a file or directory when using the File System Access API.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Credential Sharing:<\/strong> Domains that share the same account management backend can now be associated together, meaning the Chrome password manager only needs to remember one login for all the domains.<\/li>\n<li><strong>V8 JavaScript<\/strong>: Chrome 91 incorporates version 9.1 of the V8 JavaScript engine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr\/>\n<p>Chrome will automatically install the update on your device when it\u2019s available.
