\nIt\u2019s a sad day for The Office<\/em> fans.<\/p>\n

Mark York<\/strong>, the actor behind fan favorite character Billy Merchant, died on Wednesday following \u201ca brief and unexpected illness,\u201d according to an obituary. At just 55 years old, he passed in a Miami, Ohio hospital.<\/p>\n

For the early seasons of the sitcom, York app<\/a>eared as the owner of the Scranton Business Park building in which Dunder Mifflin\u2019s offices were located. He concluded his run on the show with Season 5 in \u201cDream Team,\u201d an episode in which Michael rents a storage closet as his office for the Michael Scott Paper Company. Mark was also known for appearances on CSI: NY<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Fighting Words<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Via his family\u2019s obituary shared by the\u00a0Kreitzer Funeral Home<\/strong>, Mark had been paraplegic since 1988, but never lost his \u201coutgoing, uplifting, positive attitude and personality.\u201d He deeply \u201cloved TV and the film industry\u201d and \u201ccould quote so many lines from movies<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n
