“#Blue Lives Matter raises $10K for Anastasios Tsakos’ family<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

A pro-police group teamed up with NYPD CrossFit to help raise money for the family of fallen Officer Anastasios Tsakos, who was hit and killed by a drunk driver last month.<\/p>\n

NYC Blue Lives Matter raised more than $10,000 by selling memorial T-shirts honoring Tsakos over the past three weeks and capp<\/a>ed off the drive with a CrossFit event on Staten Island.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt this event, we had people young and old, from all walks of life participating one way or the other to remember a hero,\u201d the group\u2019s founder, NYPD Sgt. Joseph Imperatrice said. \u201cThat\u2019s special.\u201d<\/p>\n

All of the proceeds will be donated to the Tsakos family, Imperatrice added.<\/p>\n

The highway officer died on April 27 after being hit by a drunk driver on the Long Island Expressway in Queens.<\/p>\n

As part of the fundraiser, \u00a0NYPD CrossFit dedicated a workout to the fallen officer.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the CrossFit community having a Hero workout named after someone is an honor that is bestowed on those that have made the ultimate sacrifice,\u201d said Ronald Perez, president of NYPD CrossFit. <\/p>\n

\u201cMost people know of The Murph which is named after US Navy SEAL Lt. Mike Murphy and we have chosen to pay respect to our fallen brother Police Officer Anastasios Tsakos in the same way by having The Tsakos workout.\u201d<\/p>\n

The workout event was hosted Monday night at Thrive-Active Gym in Staten Island, and Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis took part of the workout.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
