The trailer for Edgar Wrigh<\/strong>t\u2019s\u00a0Last Night in Soho<\/em><\/strong> dropped today, and it\u2019s pretty damn great. But if that hasn\u2019t satiated your hunger for more\u00a0Soho<\/em> goodness, you\u2019re in luck \u2013 there\u2019s also a poster for the film. Like the trailer, it\u2019s moody and atmospheric, and it features stars\u00a0Thomasin McKenzie<\/strong> and Anya Taylor-Joy<\/strong> front and center. See the poster, and some behind-the-scenes images, below.<\/p>\n

\nHere it is, the\u00a0Last Night in Soho<\/em> poster in all its rainy glory. In Edgar Wright\u2019s new film, which he co-wrote with\u00a0Krysty Wilson-Cairns<\/strong>, we follow\u00a0 \u201ca young girl, passionate in fashion design, who is mysteriously able to enter the 1960s where she encounters her idol, a dazzling wannabe singer. But 1960s London is not what it app<\/a>ears, and time seems to fall apart with shady consequences\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Thomasin McKenzie is the girl who is somehow able to go back in time, while Anya Taylor-Joy is the 1960s singer. And that\u2019s really all we know! Wright\u2019s film remains shrouded in secrecy, but it certainly looks like a must-see. It\u2019s also a change of pace for Wright. The filmmaker has dabbled in various genres before, but they\u2019ve all been comedic \u2013 a horror-comedy, an action-comedy, a sci-fi comedy, and so on.\u00a0Last Night in Soho<\/em>, however, is a straight-up thriller. While I\u2019m sure there will be some sense of humor in there somewhere, this does\u00a0not<\/em> look like a comedy. The flick has been described as a \u201cstraight-up psychological horror-thriller,\u201d and on top of that, it\u2019s Wright\u2019s first film with a female lead character.<\/p>\n

To create his new thriller, Wright drew on films like\u00a0Don\u2019t Look Now<\/em>\u00a0and Roman Polanski\u2019s\u00a0Repulsion<\/em>\u00a0as inspiration, and there\u2019s a clear giallo influence in the trailer.\u00a0In addition to McKenzie and Taylor-Joy,\u00a0Last Night in Soho<\/em> also features\u00a0Matt Smith, Terence Stamp, Diana Rigg, Rita Tushingham, Michael Ajao,\u00a0 and Synn\u00f8ve Karlsen.<\/p>\n

Last Night in Soho<\/em> arrives in theaters on October 22<\/strong>.
