“#Giancarlo Stanton’s Yankees return coming into focus<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

The Yankees were without Giancarlo Stanton again on Tuesday, as the DH remained on the 10-day IL with a strained left quad even though he was eligible to return.<\/p>\n

Manager Aaron Boone called Stanton\u2019s availability during the series<\/a> against the Blue Jays, which runs through Thursday in The Bronx, \u201ca possibility.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stanton took batting practice on the field on Sunday, but still needed to run the bases.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re making sure we\u2019re past this and getting through the final couple days and getting back to playing speed,\u2019\u2019 the manager said before Tuesday\u2019s 6-2 loss to Toronto.<\/p>\n

Stanton last played on May 13 at Tampa Bay. He followed up his torrid stretch, when he went 25-for-52 with 10 extra-base hits during a 12-game<\/a> hitting streak by going just 3-for-22 with a double, four walks and nine strikeouts in his next six games before going down with the injury.<\/p>\n

Former Yankee Carlos Beltran was in attendance Tuesday, sitting next to the visiting Blue Jays\u2019 dugout. Beltran served as a special adviser to general<\/a> manager Brian Cashman in 2019 before leaving to become the Mets manager. But Beltran didn\u2019t even make it to the Mets\u2019 dugout, fired after MLB completed its investigation into the Astros\u2019 sign-stealing scandal, which found him to be a key figure while he played for Houston in 2017.<\/p>\n

DJ LeMahieu and his wife had a baby on Tuesday and he was placed on the paternity list prior to the game. No corresponding move was made, so the Yankees played a man short. With LeMahieu out, Rougned Odor was at second, and Luke Voit hit leadoff.<\/p>\n

Voit is also looking to get going at the plate. He entered Tuesday with just one extra-base hit on the season after missing the first month following left knee surgery during spring training.<\/p>\n

Voit went 1-for-4 Tuesday and blamed his slow start on \u201chitting the ball on the ground way too much\u201d and struggling against breaking pitches.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s gonna come,\u2019\u2019 Voit said of his power. \u201cI\u2019m not worried about it. I\u2019m striking out way too much. I\u2019ve just been playing terrible.\u201d<\/p>\n

Justin Wilson\u2019s miserable season continued. He allowed a homer to Randal Grichuk in the ninth. He\u2019s given up eight runs in 7\u2009\u00b2\/\u2083 innings over his last eight app<\/a>earances.<\/p>\n
Zack Britton threw a bullpen session Monday and \u201ceverything went well,\u2019\u2019 according to Boone. The lefty has been out since undergoing elbow surgery during spring training following his offseason battle with COVID.<\/p>\n
