A fraudster created false Walmart accounts to send emails with a racist slur to customers, the company said.<\/p>\n

The perpetrator found other people\u2019s email addresses and signed them up for a Walmart account. The company sent an auto-generated \u201cWelcome to Walmart\u201d email, but the email replaced the person\u2019s actual name with the slur.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not clear how many people received the email, but dozens complained about the \u201cvery disturbing email\u201d on Twitter.<\/p>\n

Walmart spokeswoman Molly Blakeman said in an email that the perpetrator \u201ccreated false Walmart accounts with obvious intent to offend our customers.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were shocked and app<\/a>alled to see these offensive and unacceptable emails,\u201d she said. \u201cWe\u2019re looking into our sign up process to ensure something like this doesn\u2019t happen again. We\u2019re also looking into all available means to hold those responsible accountable.\u201d<\/p>\n
