As well as congestion this contributes to increased emissions.<\/p>\n<p>Pebble\u2019s data can be integrated into navigation <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>s through an API, helping drivers navigate directly to an open space.<\/p>\n<p>Real-time parking information can also alert drivers when spaces are limited before they even leave home, encouraging them to use alternative <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a> modes.<\/p>\n<p>Curb management has become a priority during the pandemic and Sidewalk Labs says Pebble enables cities to implement flexible programs such as dynamic pricing or real-time reservations for commercial smart loading zones.<\/p>\n<p>Cities give a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2018-07-24\/the-overparked-states-of-america\">significant amount of space over to parking<\/a>, and it\u2019s expensive. Real estate developers can use the Pebble data to create shared parking zones and build less parking. For instance, a restaurant that does most of its business at night might share a parking garage with an office that\u2019s open during the day, rather than each building their own. Data could help make the case for this.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe think a low-cost, easy-install, privacy-preserving way to measure parking and curb space can help get any number of new ideas for more sustainable and innovative cities off the ground,\u201d said Jonas.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Privacy\"><\/span>Privacy<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Sidewalk Labs is keen to stress privacy measures. Pebble only collects information on whether or not a vehicle is there, said Jonas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe system uses no cameras or other ways to identify a person or vehicle. Consistent with our approach to data minimization, there simply wasn\u2019t a need for such data to achieve the goal of vehicle detection,\u201d he commented.<\/p>\n<p>Jonas added that Sidewalk Labs is also looking at ways to extend this \u201cprivacy-sensitive approach\u201d to parking payment and permits.<\/p>\n<p>Concerns over privacy and personal data dogged Sidewalk Labs\u2019 smart city project in Toronto. The plans to create a smart neighborhood in a disused area of Toronto\u2019s Quayside district were <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cities-today.com\/sidewalk-labs-drops-toronto-smart-city-plans\/\">dropped<\/a> in May last year, with Sidewalk Labs CEO Dan Doctoroff citing \u201cunprecedented economic uncertainty\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Since the demise of the large-scale Toronto project, Sidewalk Labs has announced several vertical-focused products aimed at improving cities. These include<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cities-today.com\/sidewalk-labs-unveils-building-automation-product\/\"> Mesa<\/a>, which uses real-time data and automation for energy management in commercial spaces, and<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sidewalklabs.com\/products\/delve\"> Delve<\/a> which deploys machine learning to optimise urban project planning.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, Sidewalk Labs spinout\u00a0Replica <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cities-today.com\/sidewalk-labs-spinout-replica-plans-expansion-to-europe-and-asia\/\">announced<\/a> it had secured\u00a0US$41 million\u00a0in <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Series<\/a> B funding and plans to expand the urban data platform to Europe and Asia.<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p><i><span>Do EVs excite your electrons?
