\n Despite reports of bed bugs, boxed lunches and mouse traps, nobody from the New York Liberty is complaining about conditions inside the bubble on the campus of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.<\/p>\n

Unlike their NBA brethren who have complained about food and \u201cMotel 6\u2019\u2019 accommodations at Disney World, the WNBA players are happ<\/a>y to have a season.<\/p>\n

Forward Leaonna Odom said it\u2019s like being back to college dormitories.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a lot like college as far as the environment of the bubble,\u2019\u2019 Odom said during a Zoom call Sunday as the WNBA gets ready to kick off its 22-game<\/a> season on July 24. \u201cWe\u2019re staying on the campus all around each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before arriving in the bubble five days ago, the WNBA announced seven players out of 137 tested positive for coronavirus from testing that was conducted between June 28 and July 5.<\/p>\n

First-year coach Walt Hopkins said there were no complaints from his players. Deadspin reported two teams moved accommodations because of bed bugs.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, I\u2019ve seen there\u2019s been that kind of stuff,\u2019\u2019 Hopkins said. \u201cNone of the players has said that stuff to me. I\u2019m happy. I\u2019m pretty low maintenance. I\u2019ve lived in a lot of different places the last seven years. It\u2019s a nice hotel. I\u2019ve been to some of the villas. It\u2019s beautiful. I know accommodations aren\u2019t the same across the board, but I only what I\u2019ve seen, and it\u2019s actually been really nice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kylee Shook just likes the campus convenience.<\/p>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t experienced any of that,\u2019\u2019 Shook said. \u201cSo far, my apartment is nice. It\u2019s a little bigger than college so that\u2019s nice. The practice schedule, normally you drive somewhere or fly somewhere, but it\u2019s all in one area. That\u2019s why it feels like college. You just walk to the gym and walk back to your room.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

The Liberty, who finished 10-24 last season, earned the top pick of the draft and selected marquee shooting guard Sabrina Ionescu out of Oregon.<\/p>\n

The downer is the anticipated backcourt of Ionescu and Asia Durr will be scrapped because the latter tested positive for coronavirus and will miss the season. Durr was the No. 2 pick of the 2019 draft.<\/p>\n

Ionescu has called for team video chats for players to talk about non-basketball stuff. Only two players return from last season.<\/p>\n

\u201cSabrina \u2014 everything\u2019s easy and natural,\u2019\u2019 Hopkins said. \u201cShe\u2019s really careful \u2014 she doesn\u2019t want any preferential treatment. She doesn\u2019t want anyone to think she shouldn\u2019t have something we don\u2019t have and be entitled. She\u2019s just a quiet, team-first, hardworking person. She\u2019s been a joy to coach. I joke a lot that she\u2019s the biggest pain on the team.\u2019\u2019\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
