{"id":260446,"date":"2021-05-27T15:52:26","date_gmt":"2021-05-27T12:52:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/germany-says-ja-to-fully-autonomous-vehicles-hitting-public-roads-in-2022\/"},"modified":"2021-05-27T15:52:26","modified_gmt":"2021-05-27T12:52:26","slug":"germany-says-ja-to-fully-autonomous-vehicles-hitting-public-roads-in-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/germany-says-ja-to-fully-autonomous-vehicles-hitting-public-roads-in-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"#Germany says \u2018JA!\u2019 to fully autonomous vehicles hitting public roads in 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Germany says \u2018JA!\u2019 to fully autonomous vehicles hitting public roads in 2022<\/strong>&#8221;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img-cdn.tnwcdn.com\/image?fit=796%2C417&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn0.tnwcdn.com%2Fwp-content%2Fblogs.dir%2F1%2Ffiles%2F2021%2F05%2FUntitled-design-44.jpg&amp;signature=7309652831bc66764fddd0e99ac87a88\" \/><\/p>\n<div>German lawmakers have voted for a bill that will allow highly automated vehicles (<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sae.org\/news\/press-room\/2018\/12\/sae-international-releases-updated-visual-chart-for-its-%E2%80%9Clevels-of-driving-automation%E2%80%9D-standard-for-self-driving-vehicles\">Level 4 of autonomous driving<\/a>) to be used in regular operation by 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The bill was passed last Thursday by the lower chamber of parliament, the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bundestag.de\/dokumente\/textarchiv\/2021\/kw20-de-autonomes-fahren-840196\">Bundestag<\/a>, as a draft law, named \u201c<span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/dip21.bundestag.de\/dip21\/btd\/19\/274\/1927439.pdf\">Road Traffic Act and the Compulsory Insurance Act \u2013 Act on Autonomous Driving<\/a>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The vehicles that qualify as Level 4 autonomous will operate in defined areas and will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Shuttle transports<\/li>\n<li>\u201cPeople movers\u201d \u2013 automatic passenger transport systems for short distances<\/li>\n<li>Driverless connections between logistic centers (Hub2Hub transport)<\/li>\n<li>D<span>emand-oriented transport services at off-peak times in rural areas<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Dual-mode vehicles that could be used for example in \u201cautomated valet parking\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>Self-driving cars for the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> public would also be permitted in regular traffic, but it\u2019s difficult to imag\u03b9ne they would hit the streets anytime soon, given that current <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> still offers partially automated support (Level 2).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In fact, the bill also features a number of requirements regarding the autonomous driving function, and a vehicle can receive an operating permit as long as all of them are met. For that reason, there is a supplementing Article that defines the manufacturers\u2019 obligations.<\/p>\n<p>According to the law, vehicles with the required autonomous driving function will no longer need a human driver to operate them. But in order to comply with current international regulations, a \u201ctechnical supervisor\u201d will be necessary. The supervisor won\u2019t drive the vehicle, but will be responsible\u00a0for ensuring that the obligations under road traffic law are\u00a0met.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<span>measure will pass to the upper chamber or parliament, the Bundesrat, for <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roval before it can take effect.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<div class=\"c-richText c-richText--large\">\n<p><i><span>Do EVs excite your electrons?
