“#Giant shark sparks ‘megalodon’ theory after scaring tourists<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

A gigantic shark that gave a boat full of tourists a scare has sparked theories that it\u2019s a megalodon \u2014 an extinct predator known for its enormous size.<\/p>\n

Musician Alex Albrecht captured the massive beast while at sea on a cruise ship in the Atlantic Ocean.<\/p>\n

\u201cSailed six weeks in the atlantic saw this big f\u2013king shark,\u201d he captioned a TikTok video on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The shark app<\/a>ears menacing as it swims slowly in a circle near the surface of the ocean, prompting screaming tourists to clamor near the boat\u2019s edge to get a glimpse.<\/p>\n

In the video, Albrecht could be heard in the background saying \u201cHoly F\u2013k\u201d as others cry out, \u201cOh my god\u201d and \u201cWoah.\u201d <\/p>\n

The footage, which was filmed from the mast, has garnered more than 37 million views \u2014 and hundreds of comments speculating about its species.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is insane what is that?\u201d wrote one user.<\/p>\n

Another replied, \u201cIt\u2019s a basking shark! It\u2019s one of three sharks that eat plankton, despite its size it\u2019s completely harmless to humans!\u201d<\/p>\n

But others suggested that it could be a megalodon, which lived 23 million years ago\u00a0and was as large as 59 feet long.<\/p>\n

\u201cYup is definitely the Megalodon!!\u2019 wrote one user.<\/p>\n

Another added, \u201cI\u2019m just saying no one can say that the megalodon don\u2019t [sic] exists when we have only explored 5% of the ocean.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
