\n Brett Gardner said he was \u201cdisapp<\/a>ointed and concerned\u201d for Aroldis Chapman in the wake of the closer\u2019s positive test for coronavirus. Still, the outfielder has not altered his view of what lies ahead.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt doesn\u2019t affect the way I look at the season,\u2019\u2019 Gardner said. \u201cGoing into this, I think we\u2019re all prepared for this kind of thing to happen. Hopefully, it doesn\u2019t happen on a larger scale. I think we\u2019ve been doing a great job keeping our distance and wearing masks inside all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Manager Aaron Boone said Masahiro Tanaka threw from 100 feet Sunday and \u201ceverything is going well\u201d in his recovery from the concussion he suffered July 4, when he was hit in the head by a Stanton line drive.<\/p>\n

But there is still no date set for when Tanaka might pitch again.<\/p>\n

Clint Frazier, who has dealt with concussions in his career, said he hasn\u2019t spoken to Tanaka since the injury, but offered this bit of advice on Sunday when asked: \u201cIt would be to be patient. \u2026 It\u2019s a hard injury to go through, especially if the people you\u2019re talking to haven\u2019t experienced it themselves. At times, it feels like you\u2019re the only one who really knows what you\u2019re going through, but other people do know. It\u2019s a lonely feeling if it continues to go long.\u201d<\/p>\n

Boone said Estevan Florial could have a role at some point this season, even though he\u2019s never played above Class-A Tampa.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe love [Florial],\u2019\u2019 Boone said. \u201cHe\u2019s been robbed a little bit of his development with some of the injuries he\u2019s run into and this year getting shut down. We still love the person, tools and potential. There\u2019s no question his ceiling remains incredibly high and there\u2019s value in him being out there.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for Florial\u2019s chances of making it on the roster, Boone said: \u201cIf there\u2019s one thing 2020 and this virus have shown us is you\u2019ve got to be adjustable in your plans. He\u2019s here with the thought that if something happens, he\u2019s very much in the mix.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Yankees\u2019 simulated game<\/a> Sunday featured MLB umpires for the first time, with a three-man crew present.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it was helpful for them to get reps in,\u2019\u2019 Boone said of the umps. \u201cIt was good to have a legit-called game.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
