\n Michael Jordan spent his entire career being apolitical. Now, he and his brand are making an incredibly powerful stand.<\/p>\n

The Bulls legend\/Charlotte Hornets owner, and Nike\u2019s Jordan Brand, will be donating $100 million over the next 10 years to organizations \u201cdedicated to racial equality, social<\/a> justice and greater access to education,\u201d a statement from Jordan and the company said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBlack lives matter. This isn\u2019t a controversial statement,\u201d the announcement said<\/a>. \u201cUntil the ingrained racism that allows our country\u2019s institutions to fail is completely eradicated, we will remain committed to protecting and improving the lives of Black people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jordan released his own statement over the weekend, following the death of George Floyd.<\/p>\n

\u201cI see and feel everyone\u2019s pain, outrage and frustration,\u201d Jordan said. \u201cI stand with those who are calling out the ingrained racism and violence toward people of color in our country. We have had enough.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t have the answers, but our collective voices show strength and the inability to be divided by others. We must listen to each other, show compassion and empathy and never turn our backs on senseless brutality. We need to continue peaceful expressions against injustice and demand accountability. Our unified voice needs to put pressure on our leaders to change our laws, or else we need to use our vote to create systemic change. Every one of us needs to be part of the solution, and we must work together to ensure justice for all.<\/p>\n
