John Wick Chapter 4<\/em> <\/strong>has a new cast member.\u00a0Rina Sawayama<\/strong>, a Japanese-British singer-songwriter and model, will co-star along with Keanu Reeves<\/strong> in the action sequel from director\u00a0Chad Stahelski<\/strong>. It\u2019s not clear how big Sawayama\u2019s role is, or who she\u2019s playing, but she\u2019ll be making her feature debut in the flick. Production on\u00a0John Wick 4<\/em> will begin this summer in\u00a0France, Germany, and Japan. At one point, the plan was to shoot\u00a0John Wick 4<\/em> back-to-back with\u00a0John Wick 5<\/em>, but that\u2019s no longer happ<\/a>ening.<\/p>\n

Deadline is reporting that singer Rina Sawayama will make her feature debut in\u00a0John Wick Chapter 4<\/em>. \u201cI\u2019m so glad to have Rina on board to make her feature film debut in\u00a0John Wick: Chapter 4<\/em>,\u201d said director Chad Stahelski said. \u201cShe\u2019s an incredible talent who\u2019ll bring so much to the film.\u201d Since I\u2019m an unhip old man, I will confess here I have never heard of Rina Sawayama, but if you have, and you\u2019re a fan, this is no doubt good news<\/a> for you. \nWhen we last left John Wick (Keanu Reeves) he had been shot repeatedly and fell off a roof. But since you can\u2019t keep John Wick down for long, he survived, and he\u2019s no doubt going to want some revenge. That\u2019s kind of his whole thing.\u00a0Shay Hatten and Michael Finch wrote the script for\u00a0John Wick Chapter 4<\/em>, and production on the film is set to begin in France, Germany, and Japan this summer. Once upon a time,\u00a0John Wick Chapter 4<\/em> was set to open\u00a0May 21, 2021, AKA this week. But of course, the pandemic got in the way of that.<\/p>\n

Now, the film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on\u00a0May 27, 2022<\/strong>. The original plan was to film\u00a0John Wick Chapter 4<\/em> and\u00a0John Wick Chapter 5<\/em> back-to-back, but that\u2019s no longer happening. Meanwhile, the\u00a0John Wick<\/em> franchise is set to expand. There\u2019s a spin-off film called\u00a0Ballerina<\/em> in the works, and then there\u2019s the prequel TV series<\/a>\u00a0The Continental<\/em>.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s kind of amazing to see how far the franchise has come. I can distinctly remember that before the first film arrived, it was met with suspicion. The premise \u2013 a guy starts shooting people who killed his dog \u2013 sounded somewhat goofy, and the poster<\/a>, which featured Keanu Reeves\u2019s head turned into a bomb, complete with a fuse (or a\u00a0wick<\/em>, I guess?), was downright laughable. And then\u00a0John Wick<\/em> came out and blew everyone away with its slick action, cool style, and interesting world-building. The series has only gotten bigger from there, and I\u2019m excited to see where it goes.<\/p>\n
