A cicada crawled onto a reporter\u2019s head during a live shot in Washington, as the insect\u2019s once-in-a-generation coming out party continues to make headlines.<\/p>\n

CNN reporter Manu Raju tweeted<\/a> a clip of him being bugged by the unwanted visitor \u2014 which app<\/a>ears to be almost the same size as the knot on his tie \u2014 while filming a stand-up at the US Capitol Thursday.<\/p>\n

The large insect can be seen crawling up Raju\u2019s lapel and onto the back of his neck, before the political reporter takes notice and flicks the insect out of his hair while screaming out in profanity.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo I have more on me?\u201d Raju asks onlookers, as he starts to regain his composure. <\/p>\n

\u201cAre they in my hair?,\u201d he asks, before punctuating the exchange with more profanity, which was bleeped out.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere the f*** are the cicadas coming from?!\u201d Raju exclaims as he looks around the building\u2019s rotunda in the 43-second clip.<\/p>\n

Members of the media were sympathetic, while some Twitter<\/a> users turned the creepy scene into a political joke.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly I wouldn\u2019t even be mad if you missed my live shot because of this. I would have left the building,\u201d CNN producer Courtney Doll tweeted.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would have LOST it!!,\u201d replied NPR reporter Asma Khalid.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat cicada is the least swarmy thing on Capitol Hill,\u201d another user wrote.<\/p>\n

Trillions of the noisy insects have surfaced for the first time in 17 years from Georgia to New Jersey.<\/p>\n

This generation of the winged black\u00a0insects have been dubbed Brood X cicadas. They hibernated underground for nearly two decades before emerging to mate \u2014 at a volume of up to 100 decibels \u2014 along the East Coast this spring.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
