“#Cop fired for mocking LeBron James blames ‘cancel culture’<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

The Idaho cop who went viral for a TikTok video mocking LeBron James for meddling in policing issues has now been fired.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am the latest target of cancel culture,\u201d former Bellevue deputy marshal Nate Silvester told Sean Hannity<\/a> on his Fox News<\/a> show Thursday, hours after he was fired.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s all it is,\u201d the officer turned viral videomaker insisted.<\/p>\n

Silvester was initially suspended for his April 24 TikTok mocking the hoops legend who was forced to apologize for incendiary posts about policing following the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Ma\u2019Khia Bryant.<\/p>\n

In his clip, Silvester pretended to have a phone conversation with the NBA superstar to get his advice while witnessing an imaginary black person trying to stab another black person.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo you don\u2019t care if a black person kills another black person, but you do care if a white cop kills a black person, even if he\u2019s doing it to save the life of another black person?\u201d Silvester said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean it doesn\u2019t make a whole lot of sense, but then again you are really good at basketball so I guess I\u2019ll take your word for it,\u201d he said, adding \u201c#humanizethebadge\u201d in the viral video.<\/p>\n

He was fired Thursday for what Bellevue Mayor Ned Burns said<\/a> were \u201ccontinued policy violations\u201d after he already had a \u201clast chance agreement\u201d with his superior officers.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was not terminated for the content of his speech; he was terminated for his failure to follow clearly laid out and well established policy,\u201d the city insisted in a statement on Facebook<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The decision was solely made by the command structure within the Bellevue Marshals office and was not influenced in any way by me or by the City Council,\u201d Burns insisted, asking for \u201ccalm and understanding.\u201d<\/p>\n

Silvester insisted that his witty videos are an attempt to \u201chumanize the badge.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNone of my other videos that depicted me in my uniform or involving body camera footage, none of those mattered. They didn\u2019t care about those. It wasn\u2019t until my LeBron James TikTok struck a political nerve that they started to pay attention and complain about it and came up with forms of discipline,\u201d he told Hannity.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
