This week, Call Me By Your Name<\/em> director Luca Guadagnino<\/strong>\u00a0began production on his first movie shot in the United States. It\u2019s called Bones and All<\/strong><\/em>, and it stars\u00a0Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/strong> (Little Women<\/em>,\u00a0Dune<\/em>) and Taylor Russell<\/strong> (Waves<\/em>, Lost in Space<\/em>) as two lovers travel<\/a>ing across the country. But Guadagnino has just added a whole slew of additional actors to the cast, and while there are some terrific names among them, one name stands out as a slightly odd choice: David Gordon Green<\/strong>, the director of movies<\/a> like Pineapp<\/a>le Express<\/em> and 2018\u2019s Halloween<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Deadline reports that, in addition to Green, actors\u00a0Michael<\/strong> Stuhlbarg<\/strong> (Call Me By Your Name<\/em>), Andr\u00e9 Holland<\/strong> (The Knick<\/em>),\u00a0Jessica Harper<\/strong> (Suspiria<\/em>),\u00a0Chloe Sevigny<\/strong> (Big Love<\/em>),\u00a0Francesca Scorsese<\/strong> (We Are What We Are<\/em>), and Mark Rylance<\/strong>\u00a0(Bridge of Spies<\/em>) have been added to the Bones and All<\/em> cast.\u00a0\u201cWhen I sent the script to David [Gordon Green], he said, \u2018You\u2019re mad, and I\u2019m in,’\u201d Guadagnino explained when asked about the unconventional casting of his fellow director. \u201cSo he\u2019s in. I asked him to change his looks radically and he\u2019s done that. I do like discovering, so I\u2019m launching the acting career of David Gordon Green, the great filmmaker.\u201d Green previously appeared on screen in one episode of the HBO comedy series The Righteous Gemstones<\/em>, but this sounds like it will be his biggest acting role to date.<\/p>\n

Bones and All<\/em>, which is being filmed in the Ohio Tri-State area, \u201cis a story of first love between Maren, a young woman learning how to survive on the margins of society, and Lee, an intense and disenfranchised drifter, as they meet and join together for a thousand-mile odyssey which takes them through the back roads, hidden passages, and trap doors of Ronald Reagan\u2019s America. But despite their best efforts, all roads lead back to their terrifying pasts and to a final stand which will determine whether their love can survive their otherness.\u201d
\nThe screenplay was written by\u00a0David Kajganich<\/strong>, who wrote the AMC series The Terror<\/em> and previously collaborated with Guadagnino on A Bigger Splash<\/em> and the remake of Suspiria<\/em>. It\u2019s based on a novel by author Camille DeAngelis.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, don\u2019t hold out hope for that much-discussed sequel to Call Me By Your Name<\/em>. In addition to the firestorm that has sprung up around Armie Hammer in recent months, it sounds like Guadagnino has simply moved on. \u201cThe truth of the matter is, my heart is still there, but I\u2019m working on this movie now, and I\u2019m hopefully going to do\u00a0Scarface<\/em>\u00a0soon, and I have many projects and so will focus on this side of the Atlantic and the movies I want to make,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
