“#Penguindrum Crowdfunding Campaign Ends With 1,051% of Funds Raised<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

After nearly two months, the crowdfunding campaign<\/span><\/a> to raise money for the production costs for\u00a0the 10th-anniversary Penguindrum<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0compilation film ended with the campaign raising\u00a01,051% of the asking funds. This means that not only is the film, which will be titled\u00a0RE:cycle of the PENGUINDRUM<\/strong><\/em>, fully funded, but excess funds will go towards improving the animation and\u00a0create\u00a0new songs.<\/p>\n

The crowdfunding campaign, which was only open to Japanese residents, raised\u00a0105,192,960 yen (US$957,606) against a funding goal of just 10 million yen<\/strong>. As previously mentioned, excess funds will be going towards the production of the film, as well as other activities for the 10th anniversary of the TV anime<\/a> series<\/a>, including a special backer-only screening of the completed film with director Kunihiko Ikuhara<\/strong>, as well as general<\/a> screenings of the film and merchandise for the celebration.<\/p>\n

The campaign was\u00a0fully funded<\/span><\/a> in roughly 150 seconds, bringing in\u00a010 million yen\u00a0(US$90,380),\u00a0 after the campaign went live on April 8, with backers receiving goods, t-shirts, booklets, and their names in the credits of the film.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This is the first part of the 10th-anniversary celebrations for Penguindrum<\/strong><\/em>, with other projects in the works\u2013though these haven’t been confirmed as of yet.<\/p>\n

RE:cycle of the PENGUINDRUM<\/strong><\/em>, a compilation film\u00a0of the original 2011 TV anime with new elements, will be directed by\u00a0Kunihiko Ikuhara<\/strong>, with character designs by\u00a0Lily Hoshino<\/strong>, with the TV animation having being done at\u00a0BRAIN’S BASE\u00a0<\/strong>and the theatrical edition by\u00a0Lapin Track<\/strong>.\u00a0No words yet on when the film will be released.<\/p>\n
