“#Cops outraged after ‘Blue Lives Murder’ app<\/a>arel surfaces on Amazon<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Amazon is still hawking \u201cBlue Lives Murder\u201d merchandise almost a year after similar anti-cop gear first came to light \u2014 sparking renewed outrage from the Big Apple\u2019s detective\u2019s union, who accused the e-tailer of putting cops \u201cat peril and risk.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a recent letter, the Detectives\u2019 Endowment Association demanded Amazon stop selling the \u201cdisgusting\u201d items emblazoned with the message \u201cBlue Lives Murder.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cIt has come to my attention that your website is selling tee-shirts (sic) and other items emblazoned with the words \u2018Blue Lives Murder,’\u201d reads part of the letter sent by the DEA to the company\u2019s Chief Financial Officer Brian Olsavsky and obtained by The Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s disheartening that your company would allow this disgusting motto on your sales platform.\u201d<\/p>\n

As of Sunday, apparel<\/a> including an $8.99 black polyester \u201cBlue Lives Murder\u201d face mask<\/a> and T-shirts<\/a> and hoodies<\/a> featuring with the cop-hating slogan \u2014 as well as the message \u201cBlue Lives Aren\u2019t Real\u201d<\/a> \u2014 could readily be found for sale on Amazon.<\/p>\n

\u201cAmazon is perpetrating anti-police rhetoric,\u201d a Staten Island detective told The Post. \u201cIt is totally inaccurate. They should sell shirts that say, \u2018Blue Lives Save Lives.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

In its letter, the DEA demanded that Amazon \u201cimmedia<\/a>tely\u201d take down items with the \u201cBlue Lives Murder\u201d slogan because the phrase\u2019s \u201conly purpose is to invite further division, hatred and violence toward the hard-working men and women of the nation\u2019s Police Departments, who are toiling every day to keep their communities safe.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTo continue to hawk products emblazoned with this vile phrase puts the lives of Police Officers, and all law enforcement nationwide, at peril and risk,\u201d the letter said.<\/p>\n

The letter was also blasted out to detectives via email who were encourged to \u201cadapt\u201d it and send their own version to Amazon.<\/p>\n

The letter also cites the online retailer\u2019s policy of not listing products that \u201cpromote, incite, or glorify hatred, violence, racial, sexual or religious intolerance, or promote organization with such views.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are hypocrites. They say they don\u2019t sell items that incite hatred,\u201d fumed a Brooklyn detective. \u201cI can\u2019t think of an item that incites hatred more than these sweatshirts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amazon did not respond to a request for comment. <\/p>\n

In June 2020, after a Minneapolis police officer killed George Floyd, igniting protests across the country and the five boroughs, similar \u201cBlue Lives Murder\u201d T-shirts were sold on Amazon. The 2020 merchandise appears to have since been removed from the site. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt shows that [Amazon is] bending over backwards for this movement like many other companies are,\u201d Sgt. Joe Imperatrice, who founded Blue Lives Matter NYC, said at the time. <\/p>\n

The company has in the past yanked racist, anti-Semitic and sexist items that have caused controversy. <\/p>\n

In July, it removed<\/a> neo-Nazi books and Ku Klux Klan merchandise. The company in August also pulled down<\/a> shirts with the phrase \u201cJoe and Hoe\u201d that disparaged the then-Vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris.<\/p><\/div>\n
