“#Drunk driver allegedly hits five NYPD officers on Staten Island<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

An allegedly drunken pickup-truck driver struck five NYPD cops on Sunday as they were setting up for a Memorial Day parade on Staten Island, police and law-enforcement sources said.<\/p>\n

The officers \u2014 at least three in plainclothes \u2014 were putting up barriers for the Monday festivities at Livermore and Forest avenues when they were struck at around 9:45\u2009a.m., police said.<\/p>\n

Four were taken to Richmond University Medical Center with minor injuries. One refused medical attention.<\/p>\n

The driver, identified by police as Brian Manning, 39, who lives in the New Brighton section, remained on the scene.<\/p>\n

He was charged with DWI, reckless assault, driving without a license and refusing to take a Breathalyzer test, police said.<\/p>\n

Photos taken by the Staten Island Advance show a teal pickup truck that app<\/a>eared to have hit a telephone pole.<\/p>\n
