“#NYPD cop tasers Black Lives Matter protester during Bay Ridge clash<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n An NYPD cop fired a Taser at a Black Lives Matter protester during a clash between that group and a pro-police contingent in Bay Ridge Sunday night, dramatic video shows.<\/p>\n

The video begins as the man yells at an officer, who tells him to get back before shoving him.<\/p>\n

Another cop then runs in from off-camera and body checks the man.<\/p>\n

The protester yells \u201cY\u2019all see this?\u201d to someone taking video, and then the body check cop can be seen pulling out a Taser and firing it at the man from about 3 feet away.<\/p>\n

The man convulses on the ground before yanking out the Taser prongs and standing up as a group of cops try to handcuff him on the front windshield of a car.<\/p>\n

He yells at officers to get off of him and at one point cries, \u201cYou\u2019re breaking my arm!\u201d<\/p>\n

In a tweet, City Councilman Justin Brannan, whose district includes Bay Ridge, wrote, \u201cI have reached out to @NYCMayor @NYPDnews<\/a> and have asked for a full investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n

He earlier wrote that\u00a0he was \u201cdisturbed\u201d by the violence and that he would be meeting with the local 68th Precinct on Monday.<\/p>\n

In a statement, an NYPD spokeswoman said the department is \u201caware of the video\u201d and \u201cit is under review.\u201d<\/p>\n

Police said Monday morning that the man, who is still awaiting charges, chucked a helmet at a uniformed police officer in the moments before the clip began.<\/p>\n

The NYPD said Sunday night two people were arrested as standoffs between demonstrators on each side descended into chaos. It wasn\u2019t immedia<\/a>tely clear if the protester who was Tased is included in that number.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
