Macy\u2019s annual July 4 fireworks show will be close to normal next month \u2014 after 2020\u2019s \u201cpop-up\u201d shows designed to discourage large gatherings, Mayor Bill de Blasio said Tuesday. <\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, things are moving in the right direction to be able to have something much more like we\u2019ve had historically, but we still have to be smart about it, and we have to structure it for this kind of transitional moment we\u2019re in,\u201d de Blasio said at his daily virtual press briefing.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Fireworks will be] definitely much more like what we\u2019ve had before than what we experienced last year, but we\u2019ll have a fun announcement on it soon.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to make a full announcement soon, with the details,\u201d the mayor said.<\/p>\n
