Gov. Andrew Cuomo went back to the old-style political campaign posters he loves so much to memorialize New York\u2019s fight against the coronavirus pandemic with yet another self-centered painting that\u00a0includes quotes from himself and even features his muscle car.<\/span><\/p>\n

The illustration, unveiled in a Monday press briefing in Manhattan, depicts the steep toll that COVID-19 inflicted on the Empire State as a mountain, marking each major event and select policy decisions made during the outbreak with a symbol.<\/p>\n

At the base, Cuomo depicts the initial hotspot in New Rochelle as an open flame, the decision to order New Yorkers to wear face coverings is illustrated with a mask placed near the summit, while the state\u2019s essential workers lower themselves down the other side of the mountain with a rope labeled \u201cThe Power of We.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had to bend the curve despite those models,\u201d he told reporters in Manhattan while showing off the new artwork. <\/span>\u201cFrom Day 1 to Day 111, it\u2019s roughly scaled and then little visuals of what was going on.\u201d<\/p>\n

From top to bottom, Cuomo\u2019s painting also celebrates Cuomo \u2014 and his response to a pandemic that\u2019s killed an estimated 32,000 New Yorkers.<\/p>\n

A slogan frequently included in the governor\u2019s PowerPoint presentations \u2014 \u201cNew York Tough\u201d is \u201cSmart, United, Disciplined and Loving\u201d \u2014 is included in a large gray type at the top of the poster.<\/p>\n

Cuomo then goes on to literally quote himself in the artwork, writing \u201c\u2018Wake Up America! Forget the Politics! Get Smart!\u2019 \u2013 Governor Andrew Cuomo.\u201d<\/p>\n

The poster also includes his Pontiac GTO muscle car;\u00a0the beau of one of his daughters is depicted dangling off a ledge labeled \u2018boyfriend cliff\u2019; and a\u00a0quote from invented philosopher, AJ Parkinson, offering a nod to his father, former Gov. Mario Cuomo, who created the character.<\/p>\n

Near the bottom of the painting, Cuomo included a depiction of himself sitting at the briefing table \u2014 draped with a blue cloth that reads \u2018New York State Leads Again\u201d \u2014 alongside his top aides: Secretary to the Governor Melissa DeRosa, Budget Director Robert Mujica and embattled state Health Commissioner Howard Zucker.<\/p>\n

The latest painting, designed by Cuomo and painted by a commissioned artist, comes just months after he released a bizarre nautically-theme<\/a>d poster that charted his first three terms in office as a ship sailing through the \u2018Sea of Division\u2019.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
